This clocks in around 217 pages in PDF format and was a quick read. We first meet Mimi. She's at an engagement party held at the plantation she rents a room from in Athens, GA. Her date is Dmitri. Handsome, intelligent, safe. But does Mimi really want the safe choice for a relationship? Dmitri would be perfect if she could just be turned on by him. There is no chemistry but she tries anyway. It's what her father would want. She works as the Marketing Director for Burdet...more

3 Stars I have to admit that I skipped over a lot of the book because of all the love scenes in it. It really fits the Blaze line of books. To me I really did not connect to the characters very much. The story line that Mimi Burdette works in the advertising for a chain grocery stores for her father. She is dating Dimitri a guy from work to make her father happy. She is thinking that tonight is the night they would sleep together and than thought oh I need to wear sexy underwear so she goes into...more

Review:

"Blazing Midsummer Nights" by Leslie Kelly was a wonderful read. I have read Ms. Kelly's books so I can only say she did not disappoint me in any way. The title tell you what this novel is all about...once I started reading from it I couldn't put it down. Definitely this was a sizzler!

The two main characters Mimi and Xander were really something that you will simply love...more

I never thought I’d say this about a book in Harlequin Blaze line, but this book is not only erotic, but it’s quirky, cheeky and funny too. This is everything a hot blazing romance story should be about. This book is absolutely fantastic, and I love how Fate, or rather, the author play a fool with the main characters. Playful yet sensual kind of book, I must say, and if you ever found yourselves feeli...more

The title made me think of Shakespeare, haha. But this isn't Shakespeare. It's a hot romance by Leslie Kelly, who is one of my favorite authors.

The main characters, Mimi and Xander, are attracted to each other at first sight. But Mimi is not looking for a hot man, as she's looking to earn a promotion from her father. Instead, she's trying to date the Dad-approved guy. And Xander decides to not get involved after learning that Mimi's an heiress. But it seems like the universe has other plans and...more

I’ve made no secret to the fact that I’m a huge fan of Leslie Kelly. In fact, I own most of her books in both print and digital format. So I was super excited to see Blazing Midsummer Nights available from NetGalley.

I loved Blazing Midsummer Nights! Mimi and Xander and both such great characters and I really loved them both from the beginning. In fact, I totally added Xander to my book boyfriend list pretty much from the moment he appeared on the page. The attraction between them is there from t...more

This my first Harlequin romance (which I recieved free in the mail from Harlequin.com) and i'm very surprised of how much I actually enjoyed it. I loved the characters and found it had great development. The sex scenes werent forced and out of place. Everything seemed to flow prefectly.

The story takes on a bit of a Midsummer's Night Dream story a little. Mimi, who works for her over baring sexist father, is dating Dimitri, also works for her father. She realizes she and Dimitri have no chemistr...more

Mimi Burdette is a young workaholic set on showing her father just what she is made of, and igniting some spark in the dull as dishwater relationship she is having with his right hand man, Dimitri. But before any of that can happen, new neighbour Xander McKinley crashes head first into her life...and dreams.

Xander is a muscly, gorgeous firefighter with an ache in his heart after the death of his father. He has been involved with rich girls before and expects Mimi to be just like the others - spo...more

This was a very sweet and very quick read. It has all the elements you want to see in a romance. The characters are likable, the romance is sometimes hot and sometimes cute, it has funny moments, has a touch of a love triangle and just a little bit of magic…it is also a little weird in places which kind of comes with the territory.

At times it is not particularly realistic, but let’s be hones...more

I love the Harlequin Blaze books because they are sexier and spicier but still manage to have a great romance story at the center. I really liked Xander and Mimi as a couple and loved the way they met. It was funny and sexy and embarrassing and set the tone for their relationship.

I enjoyed the story and the dynamics of Xander and Mimi's relationship. Xander is a fireman so that automatically makes him a sexy hero. Xander is constantly rescuing Mimi even though they both know it is best if they s...more

I'm torn on what to rate Leslie Kelly's "Blazing Midsummer Nights" - because I actually enjoyed parts of this novel more than I thought I would, but at the same time, it didn't really meet my expectations as far as the development of the collective novel was concerned. I wouldn't take the dreamy front cover as being the forefront of the novel, because the dream sequences take more of a backseat to only some transitional scenes within the work (for me that was fine, but others might think it has...more

This book is kind of like a butterscotch disc. Simple and basic, kinda sweet and fun. Enjoyable, but nothing special or complex.

The characters - especially Mimi - are okay, but don't come alive as much as they ought to. The plot points feel a bit contrived, and I could have frankly done without the dream sequences, which were ridiculously cookie-cutter, except for the borderline-creepy ménage à trois.

But it's nice and short, and things move along at an engaging clip. The romance between the ma...more

Ah, I love the name Xander. It might end up being the middle name of a son, if I ever have a son, and I marry someone who doesn’t mind having said son teased for most of his life. Regardless, I can totally see a firefighter whose name is Xander. It seems like the occupation a Xander would do well in. (This is completely off-topic, but where are these mystical hot firefighters? All the ones I meet are either old or have these horrible mustaches or are not cute at all. I don’t understand it! Where...more

He attempted to tamp down the reaction by shifting his thoughts to less appealing things – like grits, God in heaven, who had ever decided to eat what looked like little pieces of dandruff?

The happy couple....

Mimi (don’t call her Hermione) is a high-society marketing exec with a boring boyfriend hand-picked by her father (who’s also her boss). Xander (don’t call him Lysander) is a firefighter who moves to Atlanta to shake himself out of his grief after his parents died.

Sizzling right from the beginning, this book is exactly what a Harlequin Blaze novel should be. Just the right amount of romance & hot sex, without too much secondary story or characters to weigh it down. I loved the idea of the two main characters living in nearly adjoining apartments with secrets doors. I would've liked the ending to have been drawn out just a bit more, but overall it was great. Read it in a day - a quick, sexy read.

Another delightful love story, full of fun and heat, the trademark of all of Leslie Kelly's work and the ingredients that has caused such a faithful reader following of her books. A bit of this and that such as a reader will find in most romances, spiced up with some magic. It's the kind of entertainment Kelly inevitably provides and the kind of book that makes such fun for an afternoon read in the midsummer.

Seeing how I love Shakespeare and the thought of reading a modern romantic retelling of A Midsummer Night’s Dream really interested me. I just wished it had kept me interested. I found myself taking forever to get through Blazing Midsummer Nights. It really shouldn’t have seeing that it is a relatively short book. I just found myself putting it down a lot and then not want to go back and finish reading it.

I wish the plot had been better and I could have really done without those crazy dreams Mim...more

Umm...wow! This little Blaze packed quite the punch. From skirting the edges of an outright ménage to a passable storyline, there's enough here to sustain interest but not much else.

I should have cared more about these characters than I did. I should have read more than a very slight nod to the Shakespeare-inspired title.

Marketing director/workaholic Mimi Burdette has The Plan—work for her father and date his right-hand man. Problem is, there's no heat in the relationship. Not even a spark. And worse still, Mimi is having some seriously sexy, panties-ablaze dreams—and the star looks a lot like Xander McKinley, the hunky firefighter next door. Mimi's dreams might be due to the strange tea she drank. Or the predictions from the fortune cookie she ate. Or they could be due to Xander's smokin' hotness. But whether i...more

Despite a bit of an uneven start and a few unnecessary dream sequences this is a really fun, sweet, very sexy read.

My problem with this book is that I can't really connect with a heroine that in someway cheats on her boyfriend with another man. So I can't say that this book was not good because it was funny and easy to read, in the end anyway, I was not so captivated.

THANKS TO NETGALLEY AND HARLEQUIN FOR THE PREVIEW
