Sure, opposites attract, but in this sexy, smart, eBook original romance from Ruthie Knox, they positively combust! When a buttoned-up banker falls for a bad girl, “about last night” is just the beginning.

4 1/2 Wonderful Stars!
I just fell in love with Ruthie Knox! I can't believe it's taken me so long to read one of her full-length books. Shame on me!
About Last Night is contemporary romance at its best! It's a character driven story that features an opposites-attract plot-line with a perfect balance of wit, angst, depth, and steamy romance.

Mary Catherine Talarico, former Goth girl has turned over a new leaf. Cath is done with her bad ways, her dyed black hair, and men. Now she's got a great job she loves at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, working on the history of hand-knitting exhibit. Nev Chamberlain is tall, blonde, conservative and all British. Since first seeing Nev at the train station, Cath has nicknamed him 'City'. With his expensive suits she knows straight away that Nev is a straight-laced city businessman.

After the fun-filled, light, and humor-laced debut Ride with Me, About Last Night takes on a completely different vibe. Darker, more sensual, with a heavier subject matter, About Last Night is a story about one woman's redemption and her tumble into love.
How refreshing it was to read a romance where the heroine had the emotional baggage! Mary Catherine has had a rough life. She is currently trying to "turn over a new leaf" by leaving her old self-destructive behavior behind. T...more

4.5 stars. I wanted to read this because I've loved Ruthie Knox's posts at "Wonk-O-Mance," a blog about addictively offbeat romance novels. I wouldn't call About Last Night wonky, though it does break a number of unwritten romance rules; I actually felt a tad... disappointed isn't exactly the right word, but just a touch let down at first because the story seemed fairly conventional. But I was sucked in by the terrific characterizations and by the end, my mind was fairly well blown.

Talk about opposites! Wealthy British banker Neville Chamberlain (named after a past Prime Minister), comes from a family steeped in money and is related to royalty. He has a solid career working in the family’s bank, which is currently ran by his dear old mum and his oldest brother, and now he has a chance for a huge promotion – if only he would marry and take the role of ‘family man’ more seriously.
In contrast, there is Mary Catherine, aka Cath. She is an American working odd job...more

I thoroughly enjoyed RK's debut book Ride with Me and was looking forward to getting my sticky little fingers on this book too.
For various reasons I have been struggling to find the time to read but I did manage to finish this last night (or should I say the early hours of this morning!), and it was just what I needed....It was light and easy to read and didn't have a complex story line. Well, all of my bookmarks just vanished. Poof! For that reason I'm gonna make this short.
The premise of About Last Night was very promising. Former US Goth girl who's into knitting meets posh and buttoned-up English banker. Yay! Unfortunately the execution fell flat. In all honesty I can say that I am not disappointed because I never had high expectations in the first place.

“About Last Night,” is definitely one of the better romances I read this year. It is smart, romantic and incredibly sweet. Not sweet as in ‘It gave me a toothache,’ this book is sweet as in ‘if only I could find a love like that.’

LOVED IT!!!
This story was just fantastic!
From the story to the characterization, I enjoyed every minute of this book. Ruthie Knox knocked my socks off! This story is sweet and sexy as hell, with a heroine that has a messed up past and has survived it in spite of herself. A swoon worthy hero, that is absolutely delicious and has his own issues to deal with. They're coming together was beautiful! This is one of the few books where I loved the heroine just as much as the hero, and I look forward t...more
Earlier this year I read Ruthie Knox’s debut, Ride with Me, which is a cute contemporary that I enjoyed. Do you know what the wonderful thing is about her new release,About Last Night? It is even better.
Cath Talarico is from Chicago, but after a series of events, she finds herself working in London at a museum. Her passion is knitting, especially vintage knitting, and she is very happy working at the V&A museum helping to create and write the hand-knitting exhibit. It doesn’t pay a lot, but...more

“It had been a million years since she belonged anywhere, or to anyone.”
American born Mary Catherine (Cath) Talarico currently lives in London as an assistant curator at a local museum. Independent and self-sufficient, Cath has set her life in a new direction but she still bears the emotional and physical scars of bad decisions from her past. Experiencing a long-term hiatus from men, Cath reluctantly agrees to a blind date arranged by her boss. After the extremely boring blind date and too much...more
Cath Talarico spends the time waiting for the train to show up to watch people.
She has some little stories about them, simply to pass the time. One of them is City, a well-dressed, handsome as sin, banker, in her own words:
He probably had no idea that she existed, and the one night, after she got really drunk she ran into him, and things changed. She found out that beneath the slick image he presented to the world there's a sensitive artist in there.

This was my first Ruthie Knox read and is definitely not going to be my last! She has a fresh voice, and I really enjoyed the emotional depth to ABOUT LAST NIGHT.

I wrote a whole review for this book and it was erased by mistake and I am not writing it again!
2.5 stars. All in all, this book was okay, but did not hold my interest throughout. The heroine had too many hang ups for my taste, and all of them got old real fast, and I started to lose interest around 50%. I enjoyed the beginning, and I loved that the heroine had a personality and was no shrinking violet. I will try another book by this author because she has potential.

I loooved Ruthie Knox’s debut novel Ride with Me, I seriously fell in love with her characters, her writing style and most of all her humour. So when after much stalking err.. I mean research I saw that her second novel About Last Night will be released just a couple of months later I was ecstatic! I’m telling you this because maybe due to my boundless enthusiasm for Ride with Me my expectations of About Last Night might have been a teeny tiny bit high.

I loved Ride with Me and was so delighted to find that this new novel of Ruthie Knox's lives up to the promise of her first. Something about her settings and language and way of telling a story make timeworn romantic tropes seem fresh.
My only negative comment isn't about her writing but about the ebook publication itself. There are so many coming attractions from the publisher at the end that the book itself ends at the 80% mark on my Kindle. Many reviewers of Ride with Me complained th...more

Rebeca reviewed this on the blog recently and while I would normally avoid About Last Night on principle due to the icky waxed chest cover, I know Rebeca has really great taste, so I gave it a shot. About Last Night is a really excellent romance that is surprisingly unputdownable. While you know that it's supposed to have a happy ending, I got completely wrapped up in the story of these two opposites who have to come up with finding a new path forward for themselves before they can have a real...more
4.25 stars. Definitely one of the best contemporary romances I've read this year. Cath is a displaced Yank, trying to turn her life around in a new country and forget the tragedies that have dogged her past. She's working as an assistant curator at the Victoria and Albert Museum on a quirky 'history of knitting' exhibit. She's gotten to know all her fellow travellers on the Tube, in particular a clean-cut, stuffy looking suit that she nicknames 'City'. After a bad night out and too much to drink...more
How are the sex scenes?
Steamy and delicious with a heavy dose of realism.
(i.e., sometimes they have conversation or compare each other to previous lovers, etc.)
Some scenes are descriptive, others are behind closed doors.
How are the story lines?
The story revolves around the hero and heroine, but the plot thickens
and thickens as you go.
no pun intended...well, kind of

This book rocked. Seriously awesome!
I immediately felt connected to these two characters in the story. Cath is an interesting and free spirited woman who has tried for two years to live her life as a new person or as she calls herself "New Cath." She has made mistakes in her past that she is trying to learn from and not make the same mistakes again. In order for her to not forget who she once was, she has tatooed her biggest mistakes on her body. I love how these tatooes play out as a big part...more

I don't even know where to begin with this book!! My heart is still racing and my iPad is still steaming, this story was smoking HOT!!! And it's not just that, I actually really loved the characters, the way the story flowed, and pretty much everything about this book! I can honestly say that I've read enough romance novels to know when I've found one that really stands out above the rest, and About Last Night does just that!!!

For Cath Talarico, staying on the straight and narrow isn’t simply about making sure she stays safe, she’s hanging on to her good girl persona like it’s her last resort at having a decent life. The positive early buzz for About Last Night had me more than anxious to read it. Thank goodness I pre-ordered it and the moment it arrived on my Kindle, I started reading. And was totally blown away. Contemporary romance is my first love. When I get in a rut and need a pick me up, I automatically turn to contemp rom. It gives me what I need and I know what to expect - an HEA at the end. When I started reading About Last Night, despite all the rave reviews, I didn't expect to fall deeply and utt...more
'About Last Night' was a sweet story about a woman who's lived a difficult life and is now desperately trying to live "right" and a buttoned-up banker who's not as stuffy as he first appears. While I did enjoy this story for the most part, it didn't resonate with me as much as Knox's debut story 'Ride With Me'.

What I am finding about Ruthie Knox is her characters are real. They are not what you would expect. Even when you know the synopsis, they still are not at all what you are thinking. I thought maybe Nev fell just a bit too hard just a bit too fast. After all, it wasnt love at first sight. But I admire a character that knows what he/she feels and sticks with it. No matter what. No fear. Mary Catherine is tough as nails. Determined. Smart. Clever. And uses all her strength to stay afraid of so much...more

Ruthie Knox figured out how to walk and read at the same time in the second grade, and she hasn’t looked up since.
