This is an action packed story that has plenty of thrills while also exploring the emotion and motivations of its characters.
Part thriller, part drama, the story revolves around Lisa a witness to a horrific robbery that leaves 4 men dead and Jack, a reporter pressured to get the exclusive on the story for his news-wire job.
Throughout, we follow Lisa as she is forced to relive the scenes in an attempt to remember any detail that may help the authorities figure out who the perpetrators were. Alrea...more

“Jennifer, I love you.” No, this is not a love story. These four words are the last words spoken by a young FBI agent as he lay dying next to Lisa Palmer, recently widowed, single mother. At the request of the agent, Lisa had tried to reach his gun so that he would have a chance at the robbers but the gun slipped and attracted the attention of one of the robbers who immediately shot the FBI agent and held a gun to Lisa’s head. Lisa escaped death but didn’t escape the terror of living through the...more
Lisa Palmer, a widow and single mother, just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. She thought she was just stopping at a rest area to take a small break and grab a few items before heading back to her children. Unfortunately her stop on that particular day would put her front and center in an armored truck robbery gone awry. Witnessing this crime puts her on The Burning Edge, a new suspense thriller by Rick Mofina.

A novel by Rick Mofina is a joy to behold, and this one is no exception. Opening like a runaway train, the excitement never stops; and this accomplished, prolific author manages to weave in so many levels that all the characters are fully three-dimensional, realistic, and if not always likable, at least comprehensible. His plotting takes in contemporary society, recent history, and even suspicions of terrorism. Mr. Mofina always manages to juggle a large cast of characters, both primary and seco...more
Jack Gannon pretty much has it all. He has finally reconnected with his long-lost sister (see In Desperation), found out he has a beautiful niece, and his work as an investigative journalist is as solid as ever. The only problem he has right now is that he is a bit lonely and would love someone in his life. His ex-girlfriend wanted to be married to her job more than she wanted to be married to him. Also his new editor at World Press Alliance (WPA) who doesn't know his ass from his elbow when it...more
This is a fast-paced suspenseful book with an intriguing story. What I really like is that the antagonist is made sympathetic. While deep down you know he's wrong, you can't help but feel for him. Maybe even pull for him a bit. You hate what he's doing, but completely understand why and almost finding yourself hoping he can accomplish his mission. At least until it starts to fall apart and he goes off the deep end.

The book started off really well and maintained its pace throughout. The book tells the story of Lisa Palmer witnessing a heist and four murders and what happens subsequently. The book also features Jack Ganon, the journalist, trying to reach the truth about the heist.
While the book was pacy, interesting and written nicely, at the end, I felt that the author was in a hurry to end the book. The climax could have been a bit more elaborate. It was almost predictable.

For what it’s worth this story was with a quick ending. Few surprises appear after the excellence of military style deaths that happen by its point-of-view from the pursuers, the FBI called in to unravel the crime important to the nation and personal from the FBI. Equally difficult was imagining the mistaken rampage, the pale carnage that some can commit on others that mystifies rational thinking. This is FBI and Jack Gannon’s suspenseful twists to the climaxing ending.
This book takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride that starts on page one and never slows down. It's told from four different points of view: Lisa, the young mother who witnesses a violent armed robbery and murder. Frank, the lead investigator who relentlessly pursues the killers while dealing with his own personal crisis. Jack, the television reporter who was tipped off about the heist by an anonymous informant. And Ivan, one of the killers. The stories intermingle into a great read. Part...more
