Fate brought them together.
Now it’s threatening to tear them apart.

As the last in a long line of demon slayers, Evie’s destiny is to end the war that has raged for centuries between humans and demons.

Lucas, the half-Shadow Warrior half-human who was sent to kill her, has betrayed his own Brotherhood and his family to fight alongside her.

Even though I couldn't put this book down while I was reading it, continuing on with trepidation at times, as to what was coming next, I feel the cliffhanger just took all the goodness out of it and left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

I found the first half to be ticking over with nothing too exciting going on but I just enjoyed being back in this world with Evie and Lucas. After the battle at the end of Fated in which the brotherhood were wiped out, they are on the run and head to Luc...more

Cover:
I love how it still has the same theme as Fated! The simplicity of the cover really reflects the book and I like how there's the contrast between the dark and light colour in the background.

Story:

What does it take to sever the realms?

When I first read Fated, I longed for its sequel already. I really hoped that the rights for the sequel was picked by Simon & Schuster so we can read the sequel! But, I was surprised to f...more

Severed is the highly awaited sequel to Sarah Alderson’s Fated and she really doesn’t disappoint with this exciting and enthralling instalment.

Starting straight after the events in Fated, Evie and Lucas are now on the run and are trying to seek shelter. They end up at Lucas’s sister while they try and find a group of rogue hunters, who they believe can help them win the battle against the Brotherhood. While training with the hunters, Evie finds out that in order to end the battle, a bi...more

You see, this is what I love on a series: for the second book to be better than the first one; for it to grab my attention, to keep me on the edge of the seat waiting to see what new surprise will come next; for it to break my heart a bit, to make me feel all different emotions from happiness to despair; I want a book to make me laugh and cry, to hate it and love it with passion, to say: “wow, this was such a great story!”

And “Severed” is that and maybe even more.
Where the hell’s the next book?...more

I get to cut .5 for that ending. We don't deserve to have that happens to us. Sarah you cannot just decide to break our hearts that way its not fair.
I am not going to say anything about this book. I really hope the fact that shadowed is releasing in early 2013 isn't a joke, I have no idea what to do right now.
I am so heart broken.

I was not expecting that...any of this.

Ok, so I'm going to try and write something that makes sense but I can't guarantee anything, including that this review is free from spoilers, you have been warned.

The new characters definitely made this book even better than I anticipated, and after where the first book left off I was really looking forward to knowing what happened next. It was interesting to see that Lucas has a family, I just never thought about siblings, and even though she's pretty mad...more

I liked this more than I thought I would — it was a quick, easy read and the characters were mostly tolerable.
The plot wasn't very exciting though - Lucas and Evie spent the majority of the book running around trying to find safety or trying to gather more information on the prophecy about Evie. I thought most of the book was pretty pointless, it was only at the end when things of importance happened and when the story actually kicked off.
Evie and Lucas were okay, I didn't m...more

This is the most refreshing swoon-worthy toe-curling romance. The best part was the fact that Evie would do anything for Lucas:). She knows how to take care of her man.

Would it be too much to ask for the third book to available as soon as I finished Severed?

And oh, that ending, you are sooo mean Sarah Alderson!!! Mean I tell you!!!

Well, Severed was considerably better than Fated. And we were introduced to Cyrus. And, let me tell you, Cyrus is pretty awesome. But if I'm completely honest . . . I'm glad I grabbed this copy of Severed when it was free for Kindle because I wouldn't have paid full price for it. Sad, yes, but true, because I LOVE Sarah Alderson. I really, really do.

I mean, after the ending of Severed . . . I'm definitely going to pick up Shadowed. Definitely. Because Lucas is amazing. And Evie is pretty awesome...more

Alright, I'm just going to say this up front: I hated the ending. I was so upset I was reconsidering finishing the series.

Also, death is imminent in this story. It's like a constant lingering reminder, the invisible force/fear resulting in such entertaining & thrilling action sequences. Because like Fated, Severed followed through and even stepped it up a notch with the action scenes. I loved the confrontations and the new rogue hunter characters that were introduced. I even liked...more

Severed, book 2 in the Fated series took awhile to warm up, but at the halfway mark it packed a punch.

Evie and Lucas are on the run trying to uncover the prophecy of the White Light. Looking for clues, and for people to help give them clues, slows the story down in the beginning as we are introduced to a new cast of characters. Once we meet the bedpost-notching, rogue hunter, Cyrus, things pick up a bit with Cyrus' larger than life ego and one-liners. He swaggers into the hate-to-love, quick-wit...more

I can't breathe. Seriously. It ended that way? THAT WAY?

Let's rewind a minute. So we pick up Evie's story as she and Lucas are on the run, unhumans chasing after them and questioning the meaning of a prophecy which includes Evie. I'm not giving ANYTHING else away in this review because I knew nothing going in and I loved every minute.

I love Angel and Buffy and Severed fits nicely into that kind of world. Sarah describes each character and scene so colourfully I honestly felt like I could see eac...more

Severed is the perfect sequel to Fated, and I'm sure that it will satisfy all fans! Be prepared for the same heart-stopping action, mysteries and the epic romance that we all love so much.

In Severed, Evie and Lucas are on the run from their lives to fight the evil that threatens the world. On their way, they encounter a group of rogue unhumans and have no choice but to join them because they offer some much-needed help. As Evie discovers more about what is happening to the realms, she i...more

Alderson has again produced fast and fiery sequel in Severed. If you were suckered in by Fated, you honestly haven’t seen anything yet. Alderson in my eyes has quickly become the master of surprises; the sucker punches that came in Severed had me sitting in shock, left my mind reeling and had me wanting to jump up and down shouting how could you do this to me?

In Severed we are reunited with the unexpected pair of Lucas and Evie, after everything’s that’s gone down, they’re on the run with who kn...more

So it's no secret that I'm a massive fan of everything that Sarah Alderson writes and I loved Fated when I first read it last year. At the time I had high hopes for it to turn into a series so I couldn't have been more excited when I found out that Sarah had written two more books about Evie and Lucas. Anyone who enjoyed Fated will be pleased to know that Severed is even better - there is more action, more intrigue, more danger and of course more romance. We also get to meet some interesting new...more

I have to admit, this book wasn't everything I had hoped it would be. I love Sarah Alderson's writing, don't get me wrong, and I absolutely loved her books Hunting Lila and Losing Lila, and of course I read Fated before reading this one. I just thought there was a lot more than there needed to be, like this book was trying to hard to be something it wasn't. It was still very well-written, as always, but there was something missing, and I still don't know what it is. It's not the romance, that's...more

“Checkmate to us I think,’ Cyrus said softly. ‘Now listen to me,’ he said, dropping his gaze to Evie. ‘If you want protection you can come with us now. Your boyfriend, however, is one of them. And what’s rule number three, Vero?’
‘Kill all unhumans,’ the girl answered flatly.
‘Jesus,’ Evie said, bringing her hands quickly to Cyrus’s chest and pushing him hard. He fell backwards a few steps. ‘This is not Fight Club,’ she yelled. ‘You can break a rule for Chrissake.”

“Ever since I was a kid I knew I wanted to be this. To do this. It’s in my genes.’ He walked over to her and pressed a finger to her chest. ‘Just as it’s in your genes, Evie. You’re a pureblood. It’s even more in your genes than mine. For you, being a Hunter is as undeniable as having blue eyes and a tight ass.” 7 people liked it
