De Bourne belofte (Jason Bourne #9)
Wie kan Jason Bourne vertrouwen nu hij weet dat er elk moment een mes in zijn rug kan worden gestoken?
"Bourne's enemies are gathering force. Severus Domna, a secret and ancient cabal, has called forth its members from around the globe, with one objective: to vanquish the last person capable of destroying their bid to de-stabilize the world economy - Jason Bourne."

This one merely took the amnesia bit, and perhaps played it too far. How convenient that he would remember a fragment of memory pertaining to a character that will somehow be involved in the next book plot. This memory fragment also completely changes the portrayal / character makeup of the deceased Alex Conklin, who would be roll ...more
The public always seems to be clamoring for remakes and a return to the past. That being said, THE BOURNE DOMINION marks author Eric Van Lustbader’s sixth novel featuring Ludlum’s Jason Bourne --- like James Bond and Sherlock Holmes, another character that ...more
it took Eric Van Lustbader SIX BOURNE BOOKS to finally own this series. And he certainly OWNS it now. It's weird, I almost abandoned this series based on the last couple of books I'd tried to get interested in, as you'll see from me reviews of other Van Lustbader books in the Ludlum-originated series.
DOMINION, though I'm only half way through it, is a totally authentic piece of Bourne-ism but in a special way that doesn't seem to have any lingering allegiance to either the Ludlum literar ...more
I have come to expect a certain... averageness about this series now. After the amazing first three by the original writer Ludlum, Van Lustbader has gone about piece by piece dismantling that brilliance and replacing it with his own brand of writing. That brand of writing is now fully in place, and can be summed up in one simple word: average. Three Stars

From South America to Europe and back to the Middle East, Bourne helps track down and kill the worst bad guys in the world while apparently being marked for death by the Russian spymasters, FSB-2, who send the one man Bourne has ever trusted, Boris Karpov as his assassin.

Jason Bourne is searching for an elusive cadre of terrorists planning to destroy America's most strategic natural resources. He needs the help of his long-time friend, General Boris Karpov, the newly appointed head of Russia's most feared spy agency, FSB-2. Karpov is one of the most determined, honorable, and justice-hungry men that Bourne knows. But Karpov has made a deal with the devil. In order to remain the head of FSB-2, he must hunt down and kill Bourne.
Now, these two trusted friends are
And the good thing with these Bourne books, you get what you paid for. The plots are always reasonably water-tight and involve plenty of globe-trotting action (obviously without explaining where he gets the (large amounts of) country-relevant cash in each c ...more

In a word, ridiculous.
The story was far too fragmented, with very little of Bourne in it. Jason lost a lot of what made him, him (he's only an above average "fighter", and only a little bit of angst or issue with his Treadstone life).
What really irritated me was the fact that nary a single character in the book was what they seemed. Sure, it's a "spy novel" so we expect some b ...more
