All I'm going to say is that I fell in love with Julian. Yes I know he's the main villain in the first two books. But there's more...
Ok I'm a series book cheater. I'll admit it but I can't help it and here's why. First off I'm a huge Erica Stevens fan. The captive series is quite frankly one of my favorite all time reads and *hint Erica* I really wish we had the next book. But while waiting for said book I did check out the kindred series. Ok I couldn't get into the first book. Idk why I just wasn't feeling it at the time so I archived and forgot. Then I stumbled upon a review of kindled and thought maybe it was just taking t...more

Wow... What happened.

I was loving the first two books, but this one. not so much.

Devon and Cassie are at it again. There are a few things that happen, but I feel like the first 3/4 of the book was just Cassie crying ALL THE TIME! She never seemed to shut up. I know that she is sad because of the events that happen to her, but really.

Julian on the other hand, Now I do have to say that the last 1/4 of the book made it worth waiting for. You found out a lot of information and some nice insight in...more
I read all her books in 24 hours, has to be a record for me, Cassie is such a likeable character as she is all that is good and pure yet holding such darkness with her threatening to break loose at any time. Consumed with grief and guilt over her grandmothers death Cassie is becoming a monster and shuns everyone searching for Julian so she can exact her revenge. Devon is terrified that Cassie will not survive this and worries that she has a death wish knowing that she will not walk away from a b...more

The cliffhanger of the last book, when :SPOILER: Cassie rejects Devon :SPOILER OVER: had me writhing in agony and needing the next book to make sure they would work it out. You’re all probably beginning to think that if I review something by Erica Stevens it’s going to be an automatic 5-star and that’s true so long as her works don’t disappoint me and so far they’ve done just the opposite!

The plot:

I got tossed around a bit in this book, the quick change in direction keeping me on my toes as I to...more

it was hinted that cassie was different from melissa and chris but to be almost something else completely didnt see it. she is now dealing with the lose of her grandmother and back in devons arms she is even letting him feed from her and she has just taken out an almost elder vampire. luther and devon have filled everyone in on the fact that the commission will probably come and kill cassie from luther looking into other hunters with no abilities so devon calls annebelle and her mate liam for he...more

how much could you take when everything and one you love is at risk. how do you keep fighting and not give up. this is what cassie has to fave in book 3 what happens next will keep you hanging for book 4.
I liked the book. However, it seems a bit repetative in saying "she wrapped her arms around herself". It seems every few lines she repeats the same phrase. Also, She seems to try over and over to explain the same senerio instead of moving on with the book. I thing explaining what is happening one time is suciffent. Unless, it really is something that needs more detail in the description in order to enhance the book. Overall the book was ok. If you read the first book you are usually stuck readin...more
Everyone learns of the power Cassie has and if she plans to survive she must run and hide. The group must part ways for a while but nothing prepared them for the traitor that was within the group. Julian is the only person Cassie has now to help her get through the experiment but his isn’t doing much better than she is. Friendships will be in jeopardy, lines will be crossed and unexpected things and feelings will come forward. Kindled was a little slow at times but it has a way of ending and lea...more
Heart breaking
This is the third book of the five book series. What to say without giving any spoilers?? ugh! Anxious to see how the author resolves this! Moving on to book 4.

And here's the dark and lost book of the series. A great read with it making me want to shout out "just go to her" most of the time. Again once you get to the last page it's like "oh it's finished" and the book replies "I just dare you not to buy the next one!"
Trying to find out what Cassie is after killing a strong vampire alone. Now adding Julian into the mix of her and Devon, what will happen. exciting!!! Next book, yes please :)

Though my name is not really Erica Stevens, it is a pen name that I chose in memory of two amazing friends lost too soon, I do however live in Mass with my wonderful husband and our fish Klinger, and crazy puppy Loki. I have a large and crazy family that I fit in well with. I am thankful every day for the love and laughter they have brought to my life. I have always loved to write and am an avid r...more
