Wow! I needed a minute to collect my thoughts after this one. This book was recommended to me by a friend that said—-you have to read this so we can talk about it! I glanced over the reviews, and after seeing a sea of shouty capitals and exclamation points, I thought, she’s right, I need to read this!
I am so glad I did!
First off, the descriptive turn of phrases in this book made me smile. Every other paragraph had something in it that made me take notice. Even the hard parts were a joy to read—-...more

This book was AMAZING and UNPUTDOWNABLE but after finishing it I just felt emotionally EXHAUSTED.

From the moment I started reading The Opportunist, it sucked me right in. I was unable to put it down and thank God I was on vacation so I was able to finish it in one day. The Opportunist is a story about love mixed with heartbreak and deceit. It is about the choices...more

When three of my GR friends were so emotionally drained after reading this book and couldn't rate it, or couldn't even review right away, I had to get to the bottom of it...immediately! I dropped everything and even "put-on-hold" a decent book I was already reading to find out. Boy, did I ever.

One of the most addicting books I've read! Be prepared, you will not be able to put this down!
I think that after the first time you give your heart away, you never get it back. The rest of your life is just you pretending that you still have a heart.
After reading a review of The Opportunist a while back I had planned on staying far away from this story. It sounded like drama and frustration, and I have little patience for either. But after my trusted friend Arlenebadgered encouraged me to read...more

So, it's been a full 24 hours since I finished this book. Of those 24 hours, I thought about The Opportunist about 20 of them, pretty much every waking moment.
I've decided not to write a long review, I just don't want to give anything away. I went into this not even reading the blurb, completely dark. Except of course for the many, many reminders that this book is a mind fuck... ;)

Amazing what a book can do right?! The Opportunist blew me away, made me sigh, made me smile, made me mad, made me sad, made me cry, made me think and is still making me think at the moment, on what will happen on the next book. But for now let’s just talk about this one.

Okay, I took the plunge and finished this! Before I analyze this couple, this love story, I will start with a bit of praise for the author:
1. Descriptive Language: Tarryn Fisher has a gift of describing emotions and the characters' personality/features.
2. 1st person narrative: It should be merited when an author can give you an unlikable character and make you still root for her even though said character is a freakin' nutcase! LOL

I normally don’t write reviews but a friend of mine told me a long time ago, that I wasn't being fair to the writer, and that it was my duty as the reader to always be honest one way or the other. I wrote a review last night on this book, but I felt I needed to change it up.
So, here I am writing this review again… This is also the same friend that recommended The Opportunist to me. I asked her about the book and she smiled, wickedly I might add, and said, “You’ll just have to find out.” Now, let...more

Oh this book was good. Sure, once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down. Sure, it kept me up til 2am because I had to finish it. But then that’s not unusual right? No, then it had me awake at 5am thinking about it, analysing it, obsessing over it, trying to come to grips with it. Did I like it? Did I hate it?

Wow. I am completely at a loss as to what to say. This book was great, but also completely f**ked up at the same time. There were twists and turns everywhere, and I loved the way that it jumped back and forward in time, it added an extra dimension to the story - as in 'WTF IS GOING ON?!?!?!?'.
Olivia was a very complex character, obviously very broken, but so intriguing. She knew she had issues, knew some of her choices were wrong, but she went ahead and did whatever the hell she wanted anyway....more

Let me tell you something. When my friend Zemira here, tells you that you must read some book you are most likely to do it for two reasons. First is that the book really is awesome and second is that she will be talking about that book all the time in order to tell you how awesome it is just because she doesn't want you to miss such a great book. But whatever reason it is for those books I'll always be grateful to her.

Olivia made really horrible choices and those choices lead her on a self destructive path.
I do not think she will ever fully love but in the end she made the ultimate sacrifice which may show a sign of love.
I really wish there was more to why Caleb did what he did when he was at the office party. saying that Olivia was not showing him love was not enough of a reason.

I would like to write a novel that every, single person loves, but not even J.K. Rowling could do that. Instead, I try to write stories that pull on people's emotions. I believe that sadness is the most powerful emotion, and swirled with regret the two become a dominating force. I love villains.
