First, let me say this is an adult paranormal romance and I normally read YA. I was told about the premise for this book a few months ago and I was dying to get my hands on it. The suspense is incredible in this one revealing yet more about Ryan Williams and his werewolf past. Will Detective Lydia Davis find what she's looking for and needs?

I love romantic suspense novels. This one starts like any good one does- with a cop and a reporter. From there, nothing is what you expect. The cop is female Detective Lydia Davis, and the killer she’s been hunting for months isn’t an ordinary man. The killer’s corpse gets up and strolls out of the morgue. She is attacked in the woods by a beast that can’t possibly be real. The only person who can help Detective Davis is crime reporter Ryan Williams who has a secret about the killer she’s huntin...more
Strap in, grab hold of some popcorn and get ready to dive into Creatures of the Moon, by Kristine Overbrook. This book is as much fun to read as watching an episode of Castle on television. Lydia Davis is a strong, intelligent detective trying to catch the Bestial Butcher, a serial killer unlike any known to man. And she always gets her man. Ryan Williams has faith in her determination and wants in on the take down. But he’s a reporter… and untrustworthy. Until he saves her life. This story is f...more
Kristine Overbrook creates a world of passion and intrigue in Creatures of the Moon. Her werewolf infection is completely believable, and the reader is sucked in immediately as Lydia chases a criminal that just won’t die. The passion between Lydia and Ryan steals the reader’s breath. I was rooting for the hero and heroine from the beginning, and Overbrook delivered in the end.
I'll admit that I usually don't read novels that feature werewolves. I made an exception and am glad that I did. From the first sentence I was hooked on this book. A mysterious serial killer, a heroine who's a homicide detective, a hero who's a journalist and a riveting plot "grabbed me." Heck, after reading this novel, I was ready to howl at the moon! ;-))
I am a big fan of paranormal romance, and love all the supernatural creatures that populate them and I was thrilled to read an advance copy of Creatures of the Moon. Kristine Overbrook did not disappoint. This was a fast-paced, suspense packed story, with enough of a twist on the werewolf mythos to make it very fresh. She didn't shy away from some of the more 'untidy' aspects of being a wolf.
If you like paranormal suspense, this is a book you don't want to miss.

I don't read a lot of paranormals for grown ups, but I'm glad I read this one. Kristine Overbrook has a clever way with words and the ability to create vivid characterizations with just a phrase. Some of the scenes were almost too intense for my sensitive stomach but I credit the author with creating a vivid world that put me in the center of the action. She did a great job tweaking the familiar werewolf tropes to play with reader expectations and keep the story fresh. Look forward to reading mo...more
It's interesting to read about werewolves, especially when the main character is a female werewolf. I think we need more immortal women in literature. The plot in this book is intense, with a lot of police work involved. Perfect for readers who enjoy thrillers. I didn't care for the multiple POV's towards the end; the murderer and a crazy guy who was stalking her. All in all, it's a fast read and entertaining.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Normally cop/detective books are not my go-to read, but a friend highly recommended Creatures. So I checked it out. I'm so glad I did! The characters were intriguing and I looked forward to finding out more about them and the case they were solving. One of my favorite things about this book was the way the author made the werewolves so realistic.
I will definitely be reading more by this author!

Born in Tennessee, I was a child of New England. I spent the first part of my life traveling the east coast as a navy brat. When my father got out of the navy, my family stayed in the Virginia Beach area. That’s where I grew up, met my husband and started my family.
