Tiffany did it again. I used to think Nora was based on her but now I am pretty sure she is more Soren-ish. Poor Andrew, he must be Kingsley!
This book starts just after The Angel. As you might remember Nora was running off (cruel bitch) to meet boring Wesley and Soren was left alone (no worries Sir, I will always be here for you).

I’m all for the happily ever after where the main couple ride off in the sunset together and have a bright future with years of happiness to follow because they have one another to rely on. A certain author this year really pushed me into opening my mind and choosing more eclectic types of books. She is Tiffany Reisz, and her Original Sinners series is one of the most “original” and inventive pieces of literature I’ve read in a very long time. Out of the hundreds I read in a given year, only a quarter will really excite me or will be remembered. Most of the time when I finish reading a book, it’s forgotten, but this is not the case with Tiffany or this very addictive series of hers that I want to go on forever and ever.

Tiffany was a triple publishing threat this year, first with The Siren, then with The Angel, and now The Prince, which is an erotic, gothic, romantic mystery thriller all rolled into one. I’m so pleased that Tiffany didn’t have a sophomore slump with The Angel, and with The Prince, third time’s definitely a charm. The Prince is explosive reading because it’s a mash up of so many genres that works. This is the ultimate cross over book. This should please fans of erotica, romance, mystery, and most importantly the gothic, a genre that's seemingly forgotten because it’s from another time and place. Tiffany has reinvented the gothic with a big twist. Things here are more disturbing than ever, but underneath it all there’s this tenderness with the characters she has created. These characters are essentially good people even though they have dark desires such as Soren, the holy man sadist, and that of Kinsgley who is also a sadist in away, but more submissive when it comes to Soren. Kingsley really does have a heart of gold and this is shown perfectly in this book. Because of his love and devotion to Soren, the man he has willingly given his heart and soul over to with expecting nothing in return, we see what sacrifice and love is all about.

The Prince may seem to be Kingsley’s story; that he’s the Prince, the focal point. At first it appears he is, but I’m sorry to say that he’s not. It’s Soren. You come to figure this out half way through, mainly through flashbacks between Kingsley and Soren as teenagers where they become friends and then lovers. This is handled so efficiently and skillfully on Tiffany’s part as we see who Soren is through Kinsgley’s eyes as a young man of seventeen, and then jumping thirty years to the present where we see Nora and her time away from Soren and with the young and innocent Wesley she so adores. Whereas the first two books were an introduction, and with everything that occurs from the violent sex and BDSM element to the angst, I felt these were much more lighthearted. With The Prince, there’s major foreshadowing of the horror yet to come because someone is out for revenge. This angry and psychotic individual wants to make those certain people pay, mainly Kingsley and Soren. The interesting thing here is that Soren is the victim of this story when it comes down to it. He’s no longer in control like he once was, and because of that, the most important thing in his life might be destroyed. If that happens, I can see Soren spiraling into a dark abyss with no way out.

The Prince begins hours after The Angel ends. Nora goes to Kentucky with Wes to visit his home. Wes has a plan to show how he and Nora are perfect together, although Soren is always in the back of their minds. Nora is very open with Wes about her feelings for Soren. Wes is very mature in his thinking and holds back his jealousy, but wants to beat Soren at his own game. What Nora doesn’t know is that Soren has manipulated Wes and her reunion. Soren wanted Wes to take Nora far away because of the danger surrounding him. Soren and Kingsley know someone is out to do them wrong and they must take a journey into the past to figure out who wants to destroy them and possibly those they care about.

Kingsley is head over heels in love with Soren. He’s one of three people Soren has been intimate with. He was Soren’s second lover. Soren cares for Kingsley, but he belongs to Nora. Nora is his everything and Kinsgley despises Soren and Nora because of it. Kingsley came before Nora and should be Soren’s everything and share in that deep intimacy Soren only has with Nora. Your heart will break for Kingsley because he wears his heart on his sleeve for Soren and doesn’t hide it. Soren knows this but refuses to humor Kingsley in anyway. Kingsley allows Soren to do whatever he wants to him, but as always, Soren will leave him for Nora. This eats away at Kingsley and, “If he couldn’t have the master he wanted, he could at least serve the master’s slave.” This line says it all where Kingsley’s concerned regarding Soren and Nora’s relationship and where Kingsley fits.

As Soren and Kingsley investigate and face their past that haunts them, this counteracts with what Nora and Wes are doing in Kentucky. Wes comes from a very loving, normal family, which is the complete opposite of Nora’s. Fans of Wes and Nora will eat this up, but like Kingsley, Wes will only have to settle for a small piece of Nora. Nora is Soren’s, and even though Wesley knows this, he has a secret plan to break apart Nora and Soren’s connection that I felt was well played on Wes’s part. But in the end it will only end in heartbreak for him.

There is a humdinger of a cliffhanger ending that will have you gasping in shock and awe. I pretty much figured out halfway through who’s causing all this destruction and emotional turmoil. This ending will lead into The Mistress, the final present day book in this series. My mind in churning with the possibility of what could happen and I really think there will be a death involved. Here’s a small taste (without giving away too much of a spoiler) of what The Mistress could entail and that tone of that story:

“As a small child Wesley had heard the “phrase “the wrath of God” in church, and sat and wondered what that meant, what that sounded like. Now he knew.”

The wrath of God is on like Donkey Kong, and as to who this is, well you’ll have to read The Prince to find out. The is an amazing and daunting feat of literature, and if I had to compare it to a movie, I would say it has this History of Violence feel to it with it's quiet brutality. If you’ve seen the director, David Cronenberg’s movies, than you’ll understand the atmosphere of The Prince. More than half the time my heart was in my throat and I gasped too many times. I also melted more times than I can count. This happened as Soren brutalizes Kingsley, when they’re both teenagers. Soren can’t have sex or make love without causing pain. Pain and love are the same to him. This is shown in near perfection between these two men. The pain is not only physical but also emotional. There’s one scene where Kingsley begs Soren to do whatever he wants to him because Nora is not there for Soren to use. Kingsley has no idea what Soren’s safe word is. He blurts it out not knowing, and Soren backs off. Soren’s safe word had me putting this book down and just staring off into space because of the beauty of it . I now understand fully why Soren loves Nora desperately and completely. It’s a very powerful moment and gut wrenching for Kingsley.

The Prince was a masterful, all consuming reading experience for me. These characters, each and every single one of them, has imbedded themselves in my psyche. No other series of books this year has me so obsessed and bowing down to their creator. I urge you to please pick up The Siren, The Angel and The Prince and expand your reading horizons. These three books are tied for my #1 book of the year and Tiffany Reisz is my favorite author of the year with Nora has my favorite heroine of the year.(less)

Loved, loved, loved it!!! I feel the urge to immediately reread the book after staying up all night reading it. I ADORED the Kingsley/Soren storyline, and while Wes/Nora are generally ok, I didn't like their storyline nearly as much.

It is a tale of TWO Princes... but I'm getting ahead of myself.

This is probably the most information packed book of the series. We find out the past of Soren and King (don't think I'll ever send my child away to any boarding school). Then we catch up with them in the present and the state of their current relation/friend(?)-ship, which read like a mystery novel as they travel from one haunted with memories place to another looking for more ghosts.

The Prince could've been called The Princes because it's really the story of not one, but two princes. Wesley, the Prince of Kentucky and Kingsley Edge, Le Petit Prince. Wesley's nickname comes from his family's wealth. He's the sole heir to the largest horse farm in the world, which is news to Nora. FINALLY... My Review:

Yes, my rating for this book is lower than the other two have been. (Honestly, I don't think that any book in this series will ever top The Angel for me.) That's not because it's not good. It absolutely is, but this book didn't leave me gasping and reading as fast as I could. This book is simply a fabulous story. It didn't keep me at the edge of my seat, because it's not that kind of book. This one is about the story and as such, it moves at a slightly easier pace. I was even able to *gasp* set this book down and walk away for a few hours at a time. That didn't happen with the first two. This book allowed you to breathe and is truly a set-up book for the final, which has most definitely been set up to be a shocker. Major cliffhanger alert! This book has it.

You find out the history between Kingsley and Soren. It wasn't as shocking as I expected it to be, but I really loved those scenes. They were Labeled as North- the Past. You also get quite a bit of Kingsley and Soren now in the North- the Present sections too. We've always known Kingsley as a peripheral character so it was interesting to get insight into his psyche in this book and just how much he loves Soren. Although, like all the other Sinners, my heart just ached for him. (All of these characters have been through so much.)

There are no labeled chapters in this book as we find these main four characters in two locations. Kingsley and Soren are in the North. Wesley and Nora are in the South. So all the chapters are labeled according to whose story we are following in any given section of the book. In this particular book, those stories are completely separate. Until the final line in the book, there is no interaction between the North and South.

Wesley and Nora... I truly love them together, but some little something just seemed to be missing for them in this book. They didn't have the sizzle that I wanted for them. I have a feeling that's because Nora so isn't vanilla, but after their encounter next to the fireplace, I am hoping that she will get Wes to thinking more her way. I liked how Wesley is finding out that Soren isn't someone to hate.

There is one section of the book where Wesley and Nora are talking about romance/sex in her novels and how it's so unreal compared to their real-life relationship...I loved this section and thought it really fun.

Is it wrong here that I want them all to end up happy?? Is that even possible with this group? I sure hope so. Only book #4 will tell...

The author's talent shines in The Prince. Her skill of storytelling is what keeps me picking up the next installment. The edginess of suspense and the need to know more is subtle and as it builds you cannot help but become absorbed until finally it’s blaring, gripping and intense. All of this is wrapped around a set of complex characters that you’ve come to know and care for in spite of their messed up selves.

The story begins with a prologue that grabbed me and took immediate precedence. The plot is broken into three categories and the setting easily switches from one to the other. The North/Past takes the reader back into the teenage years of Kingsley and Soren at the remote all boys Jesuit boarding school. We are given insightful information into Soren and Kingsley’s past, how their relationship began and explains the ties that still bind them together. It’s painful, brutal, savage at times as well as filled with the author’s trademark religious innuendoes. I came to love Kingsley and my heart broke for him as a young man. He and Soren certainly have suffered great hardship and tragedy in their childhood and youth, which explains their brokenness.

Next, we are given The South which is present day Kentucky and features Nora & Wesley’s story. If you loved Wes in the previous books, you’ll fall even harder for Kentucky’s prince. While it was interesting watching Nora in his world and learning more about their relationship, it took backstage to Kingsley and Soren’s tale.

Last, we are given The North/Present which for me is the next highlight of the book. It is an enthralling mystery that is filled with surprises! The ending will leave you gasping!

Tiffany Reisz continues to delight readers with each addition to the Original Sinners Series. The Prince is powerful, gripping and intense. This third installment is not to be missed!

Holy batman!!!! Wait that's too mild! How about WHAT THE HELL. WTF?!?!?

I am not even going to sit here and lie. This book took me in a whole other direction I would have never dreamed it would go in when I started reading The Siren. In all honesty, will someone tell me who's "love story" I'm reading here? If that's what this mind fuck would be considered.

Vika and Sultan are asleep and I will vent to them in the morning, lol!!!

This book had everything, I usually love in a book. Lots of sex, suspense, and I always like a backstory, and the intensity. Whoa!

This storyline was awesome! I feel like I learned an awful lot about Kingsley and Soren's history. The story pulled me in to a point I just could NOT put it down. One night while reading it I tried more than once to give in and go on to bed, but I would lay awake thinking about what I thought was going to happen next so would pick it back up and read some more.

I loved it! The whole series so far!! The end was a total sadistic play, ending that way and making his wait. Lol, I can NOT wait to read the next. I have no patience for waiting and with an ending like that, I may become a stalker on the authors website searching for a release date.

This also may need to be revised when I wake up in the morning. I write as I have just finished the book and my mind is blown and a little scattered about. I feel like all I did was rant! Just an honest opinion on a book I just finished that totally blew my mind and have spilled raw emotions down on a review. (less)

Ma raison d'être

Here we go again. This book drained me emotionally completely. If I may quote Her Highness "It was a total mindf*ck". Which now I know, Tiffany is brilliant at it.

When I read first two books, I often wondered, that it could be nice to read a story from one of those darker characters p.o.v. I got what I bargained for and then some, in this book. There wasn't darker place than author could have gone to.

This is a must read book. Each book in this series is better than the previous one. The Prince is absolutely amazing! Nora is visiting Wes in all his royalty glory. Nora believes it was her decision to come down to spend time with Wes. In actuality, Søren sends her to Wes to keep her safe. The past is coming to haunt Søren and he wants his most treasured possession to be protected. But who is his most prized possession? Nora or Kingsley?

This story is once again built in multiple layers. There is a plot within a plot. Or perhaps multiple threads which weave in and out into an absolutely fantastic picture. Ms. Reisz does an excellent job of bringing the reader along for a wild ride. The reader is treated to how Søren and Kingsley first met. It's a moving story and explains so very much. Kingsley's love for Søren and their dream trinity union when they were young is so perfect. Fast forward to current time and while all the players for the trinity are correct, it isn't fitting as they planned. This dark menage is lopsided because it's not exactly a triad. And for these three, Søren, Kingsley and Nora, the imbalance is what makes this triangle so weak. It's sad too, since each of theses characters are so strong in their own right. Yet when combined, it's not a beautiful harmony I hear. Instead, it's cacophony of sorrowful strings punctuated by shrill clashes of the cymbal and a lone trumpet.

The characters in this story are utterly endearing and engaging. Not a single person is fully good or bad. I've fallen more deeply in love with Søren. Every book about him reveals his powerful essence. Just reading about him makes me weak in the knees with desires of submission. It is not hard to imagine Kingsley giving Søren everything, including his life if Søren demanded it. Learning more about Kingsley and his background only impresses me more. Kingsley is the embodiment of unrequited love. He is quite the masochist just as Søren is the perfect sadist. Adding Nora's confused desires into the mix only creates more chaos. Why doesn't she realize Wesley is not for her?

My hope was for Nora to final come to her sense. Ms. Reisz writes the story in a manner where it leads me to think, Nora finally sees that this is not the life for her. Being with Wes is not right. Her rightful place is with Søren and Kingsley. But no, the book takes twists and turns, making my gut clenching in anxiety. I'm not a fan of Wes because he's trying to force Nora into something she is not. I find this abhorrent. If he truly loved her, he wouldn't be placing these conditions on her, yet he does. His lack of maturity (which is justified due to his lack of age and experience) drives me batty. Yet he is so bloody sweet and innocent. He's really quite a lovely young man. But he's so wrong for Nora and everyone but he sees this.

I feel for Wes' parents because they can see how badly this will end up yet they won't forbid it because it will only make Wes want it more. He's once again rather the spoiled child. He is only considering his needs and wants and forcing them upon Nora. It's depressing yet completely understandable. When Nora breaks him again, I fear Wes will need to go to therapy for years. Although his experience with Nora should be cherished.

I digress. I'm not going to touch upon the suspense part of this story because it would be too much of a spoiler. Instead, I'm going to jump right into the BDSM. The BDSM scenes in this story are once again masterfully done. Ms. Reisz is one of the best erotic sadist writers around. They way she describes the scenes, it feels as if the reader is there. It's vivid and makes me wish I was into impact pain. The amount of physical beating Kingsley and Nora pay as dues for the pleasures of Søren's lovemaking blows my mind. This is definitely not the light kinky stuff. It's the intense hard scenes which are actually more common in the BDSM subculture than one thinks. I'm not saying this happens every night and every week for those in the BDSM scene. I am saying that these depictions are pretty accurate. I've seen the marks after some intense caning, floggings and whippings. It's just as Ms. Reisz described. I've seen the after photos of blood play of acquaintance where the bathtub ran red with blood. While this can be frightening, Ms. Reisz did an amazing job of explaining the allure and showing how it can be erotic. I'm very impressed. This is a must read book. Don't wait. Buy it now and read it. I highly recommend this book to BDSM readers who want character development, plot and mind-blowing BDSM.(less)

I love Kingsley and I really want him to be happy, but this is impossible with Søren. I believe the priest loved him at some point, but people change, Søren changed, and most important: he met his Eleanor, his Little One, his safe word.

Let me begin by saying, Tiffany Reisz's Original Sinners series has quickly become my favorite erotica series. This is not your typical erotica romance. I'm not even sure romance is the correct term to use with this series. Yet there is love, just not in the traditional sense most romance novels are written about. If you’re reading this review, hopefully that means that you have read both The Siren and The Angel. If not, then read no further. Seriously. You will want to start this series at the beginning.

Now, for those who are no doubt as invested in Nora and Soren and the other Original Sinners as I am, I will tell you this: The Prince is everything I had hoped for at the end of The Siren and everything I no longer wanted after The Angel. Because Nora ran. She took of her heels,

The Prince takes place in the past and the present. In the North and the South. And is completely overshadowed by Soren and Kingsley—who we get to see as both adults and teenagers. Those two are the stars of this book, in my opinion. Which is an amazing feat if you consider what a force Nora Sutherlin is.

The North – Past and Present

By now we are familiar with the adult Soren, who is intimidating and compelling and provoking. We’ve learned his circumstances and we now know what happened in his life to make him the way he is. But, in this installment, we actually get to see a teenage Soren. A man who is still figuring himself out. A less refined version of himself. And it only made me love him more. This brilliant and talented and misunderstood young man, who terrifies himself as well as all of his fellow students… Except for Kingsley, who sees something more in him, something that calls to him and tells him his place is at Soren’s feet. A place I wouldn’t mind being myself, truth told. *wink*

And in the way that The Angel revealed Soren, The Prince reveals Kingsley. We know Kingsley Edge as the undisputed King of Kink. Dominate and used to people obeying his every command, we see the Frenchman before the larger than life persona could form. A young man named Kingsley Boissonneault. I loved seeing a side of Kingsley that was... stripped down. Less graceful. Unpolished. But still very much a slut and a troublemaker. So, I guess the more things change—the more some things stay the same?

My favorite part was seeing two of my favorite men finding each other. The love and the passion and the understanding between them. You could see the beginnings of The Underground with each step that Soren and Kingsley took. And the formation of a friendship that manages to survive...well, everything.

The South – Present

I honestly don’t have much to say about Nora and Wesley... Their relationship felt so awkward at times. Uncomfortable. I didn’t at all like seeing Nora acting so un-Nora-like. Two books ago, I would’ve been jumping up and down to see Nora some place tame and “safe” and in Wes’s arms. But now it just leaves me with a bittersweet taste in my mouth.

Trust me, if someone had told me at the end of The Siren that I would be completely, one-hundred-percent Team Soren, I would have replied, “Are you f-ing crazy?!” And if that someone had also told me that I would NOT want Nora to pick Wes, I would have told them, “Shut your dirty mouth!”

But that’s exactly how I feel. It doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy seeing Wesley again, because I definitely did. And it cracked me up to see Nora stuck in Vanillaville. She may have been a fish out of water, but she most certainly left her mark on Kentucky. But now I want her to return to New York and, more specifically, that sexy blonde Priest named Soren.

The Prince is full of love and loss. Pleasure and pain. And more than a few secrets. Secrets that don’t want to stay buried. Make sure you put on your seat belt, your bicycle helmet, and your knee and elbow pads, because it will rough you up. And you will love and cherish every single bruise.

Because one of Miz Reisz’s biggest talents is that she writes like life actually is. No hyperbole or exaggerations. There is nothing flowery or contrite about this world and these characters. And, because it is so damn realistic, you feel like you know Nora and Wesley, Soren and Kingsley. And they repeatedly break your heart, mend it back together, then break it again. Miz Reisz writes characters that cause your heart to feel like it’s suffering from angina.

And, after the cliffhanger she leaves us hanging with, well, I think I might need a pacemaker to get through The Mistress.
