Shelves: indies, short-stories
Elizabeth's writing is lush and rich, dreamy and threatening all at once, like a sweet offered by a crooked finger in a shadowy cottage door. These stories are wonderfully atmospheric, with themes and threads of the wickedness which walks the world woven throughout and the good which just sometimes manages to push it back.

My one complaint? They were too short! I want to lose myself in her narratives.

Each of these stories is a treasure box to be examined over and over. Somehow I discover new depths in them each time I open the book. How does the author do that? They are rich, deep, and magical. Mmmmmm....delicious!

These aren't your mother's fairy tales. And, although certain stories ring of Poe--the master of horror writing--they aren't his, either. Until you crack open 'Wilderness,' you have never visited Elizabeth Yon's beautifully crafted make-believe world. 'Wilderness' can be found on the Book Club Reading List:

Like the traditional fairy tales of the brothers Grimm or Hans Christian Andersen, Yon's stories each hold a lesson, some more explicit than others. O
