I enjoyed this book even though I had not read the first book in the series. The author does a good job of briefly referencing and mentioning past events that the reader knows the backstory of Hatebe and her people. It was an interesting historical fiction piece. It is set in Latin America during the early stirrings of Spanish exploration which you don't see many authors use as their time period. The characters were likeable (and unlikab...more
