Riley and Jack Campbell-Hayes are in a good place. Jack is expanding the DD and training quarter horses, Riley is so close to his first ethical based contract that he can almost taste it and Hayley is nearly ten and happy as all out.
Jack hires Robbie, a man recovering from a great loss, to be his right hand man. Meanwhile Riley's mischievous photographer friend, Eli, decid...more

So here's the thing with this book. It was actually about Jack and Riley with a bit of Eli and Robbie...When I was expecting a NEW love story with some glimpses of Jack and Riley.
That threw me off and didn't let me enjoy the book, because every time I ended a chapter instead of looking forward to it, I was just hoping it wasn't another Jack and Riley chapter, because I actually wanted to read about the couple the book was supposed to be about.

If you have been following the Texas series and the exploits of Jack and Riley Campbell-Hayes, this book won't let you down. This book picked right up with Donna and Neil's wedding. The regular cast of characters put in appearances but this story with its many sub-plots revolves primarily around Jack working the Double D, Riley working his oil consulting firm and how the two men manage to keep their marriage fresh and together. I’m going to be upfront and honest, this book is really good BUT it was hard for me because there are two books that came before it. I didn’t realize that until I was a good portion in to this one and even though you can read this one as a standalone book, I think it might be helpful to read the others first. So, for those of you who are like me and like to read in order the first two are: The Heart of Texas and Texas Winter. I will be...more

In the third installment to the Texas series, we meet Robbie and Eli. Robbie is a friend of Neil's and is hired on as Jack's right-hand man. Robbie was a buckaroo in Australia and is still dealing with the loss of his lover, Paul. Eli is Riley's friend from college and a photographer who descends upon the Double D to do a cowboy-themed underwear shoot. Eli is immediately smitten with Robbie; Robbie needs a little coaxing but eventually comes around.

I finished this book while I was on vacation in Oklahoma this weekend and didn't have my computer so my review had to wait until now... Have I mentioned how I am completely and utterly in love with RJ Scott lately?
Not enough? Okay well let me tell you a bit about my love for this author! Jack and Riley came from her brain and I fucking love them which in turn means I freaking love her! She writes awesome stories that grab my attention from the very beginning and I've been on a kick where I wante...more

Riley and Jack Campbell-Hayes are hoping that the trauma of the past is finally behind them and their families. Jack’s mother Donna is remarrying and all have gathered for the celebration, Jack is expanding the ranch holdings into training quarter horses and Riley is moving his “green” energy exploration business forward just as he always wanted. This was such a pleasure to read. With each book in the series, I grow to love the Campbell-Hayes men even more (and I liked how adamant they were about people calling them by their proper hyphenated surname too). Riley (affectionately called Het-boy by his husband) and his luscious cowboy Jack were so stinking cute together. They clearly had been working on their trust and communication issues, and their relationship was even more rock solid as they fell deeper in love with every passing day. S...more
This book is a tiny bit better than it's predecessors. The dialogue isn't as atrocious as it was in Texas Heart or Texas Winter. Continuity errors aren't as prevalent. It's still a very sweet story.
However, the author continues to have significant problems with pacing. Some things, especially the drama, are very rushed. The ending came on very suddenly. It is as though R.J. Scott prefers quantity over quality and realized in the middle of the book that she needed to move on to her next project a...more

The third book in the Texas series definitely delivered. Jack is doing well with the Double D. Riley continues to do well with his oil company. It was nice to get to see the two of them together again since they are such a great couple. Haley is doing well and they both make fantastic dads. We also get to see other smaller characters from the previous books. The book focuses a lot on a new couple, Eli, Riley’s best friend from college, and Robbie, a new Australian ranch hand. Eli is a photograph...more
Wonderful series and a very pleasant return to the world of Jack & Riley. This book was more of a let's touch bases and see what they've been up to, possibly a lead into the next in the series *crosses fingers for another story*...rather than the in-depth complex story R.J. has given us previously.
One quote, "He really did not want to be sitting in this room with a bunch of old men who wouldn't know ethical exploration if it was lubed and stuck up their asses" had me seriously snickering.......more

That’s me, a bit confused about what to write here. Let me start with, I love Jack and Riley, can’t get enough of them, but I was really looking forward to this being more about Robbie and Eli with Jack and Riley being secondary characters or at the very least having equal time in the story. I thought the blurb was a bit misleading, did I miss something? Where did Jack and Riley play matchmaker? I thought the relationship between Robbie and Eli happened completely on its own aside from the fac...more
This has been a pleasant read for me, but I felt that special 'something' which characterised the previous books was missing here. Good sub-plots usually give complexity to a novel, yet in this case I was not sure where the main focus of the story resided. A lot of aspects were introduced and then partially developed or simply glossed over. For example, Eli and Robbie's relationship seemed rushed and a bit superficial to me.

I loved this one as much as the two previous books. Jack and Riley are one of my favorite couples. The more I read, the more I love them. In this story we also meet Robbie, Jack's assistant horse trainer, and Eli, a photographer and Riley's college friend.
The romance between both couples sizzled and the story was quite interesting. It wasn't as physically scary as the previous stories but it was as emotionally difficult. Riley's work with his new company took a huge emotional toll on him and Ja...more

Texas Heat is the latest release in the Heart of Texas series by RJ Scott and it's just as well written and entertaining as the others. Keep in mind that the story still follows Jack and Riley as the main couple and has other recurring characters, so in my opinion, the books should be read in order.
I thoroughly enjoyed this new look into Riley and Jack's life. It makes sense and flows well. The guys have had rocky moments in the past but their relationship is now solid and growing stronger, and...more

The third book in this series was as much fun to read as the first two, contained some great recurring characters, while adding a few new ones, and firmly launched this series (in my mind, at least) into "soap opera in written form" land. It was there before, but more because of the similarities to a certain TV series; now, it is firmly into creating a world and dynamic of its own. The addition of Eli and Robbie was a great addition of a new romance, and the returning secondary characters from t...more
Reading this book was like going to an all-you-can-eat buffet or smorgasbord where you end up with a plate of several delicious items to feast on. Couples wise, there was Jack and Riley. They are still very much in love and had me oohing and ahhing throughout the book. They refused to let anyone or anything come between them. They both have matured a lot and have learned to communicate to each other which is so refreshing. We see a lot of them in this story so fans will not be disappointed. Seco...more
Just as good as the first two. I'm so happy that even though the story included Robbie and Eli it still revolved around my two favorite MC's, Riley and Jack.
I liked the idea of a gay rodeo but it wasn't made one of the main plot lines.. it was just there as background and a great place to find real cowboys to model :)
I was disappointed that we didn't get a better feel of Eli. Robbie also could have been shared a little more in depth. Both of their stories were told, but more as filler than actua...more

I love it when I finish a book and I'm smiling wide, especially when I have read enough tit bits to think another book may be possible (please don't let me down RJ, another book pleassseese.....). Texas Heat is the story of Robbie and Eli. Eli was Riley's best friend in college, until a stupid argument pushed hem apart. Robbie, back from Australia, just wants to protect his heart from losing someone he loves again. Eli wants Robbie, but Robbie wants to hide himself away. Their romance is all pla...more

I love RJS's Texas series. Jack and Riley are one of my favorite couples to read about so I was excited to read the third book in this series. With that being said, I wasn't quite sure who this book was suppose to be for: Jack/Riley or Eli/Robbie? If this was Jack and Rileys, it was a somewhat abbreviated look with the sex alot of times fade to black (OK but not what I expected based on other books) If this was Robbie/Eli's book I felt a bit shortchanged in that we didn't really get too...more

Wow ... I would have to say that this series has now morphed from the soap-opera 'Dallas' to 'Queer as Folk'!
If you liked the previous 2 books in the series, then this one is essential reading but I felt a bit let down with the lack of resolution to the plot lines. Too much was left open for a sequel to allow for satisfaction in this book. I did enjoy it. The characters were still engaging. The sex (when it happened) was still hot BUT I didn't love it as much as The Heart of...more

This third part of Texas series was full of interesting characters. Jack and his husband Riley are happy and deeply in love. They are still pulling and hot. Eli and Robbie were also interesting characters, but at the end Robbie's "I love You" didn't sound sincere or real. This relationship between Eli and Robbie was rushed and undeveloped, but I did liked them as a couple.
I think I would have rated this higher if it'd been a longer book with a more complicated plot. The storyline skips 6 months in the first few chapters. Robbie and Eli's relationship could have been fleshed out more. I don't think this installment of the Texas series maybe should have been 2.5 and not 3. This really was more of a visit to the lives of the main characters of the series rather than any kind of story that could stand on its own.
How do you begin to review such an amazing love story? I can only hope that there will be more to come. R.J. Scott is such a wonderful writer, as I read her books I can visualize the characters and what they are going through, I am always sad when I get to the end, because I want the story to go on.
