You see.. Even Mary Poppins agrees, this book was fabulous! I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between Nick and Payton was off the charts and I loved that epilogue. It was great to see Jessie and Claire again, and I really hope for a third book, about Dane and Dallas because I can't get enough of this series! More...

Payton is a smart mouth rich girl with a good heart. Nick Hawk is a street racer ladies man who doesn't know it yet but is getting ready to meet his match.

I loved Payton's character in "Going Under" so I was excited to read about her own story. It did not disappoint. The sparks that flew between Payton and Nick were instantaneous. There is no way that you couldn't love Nick. This is a sweet read with a few little surprises but a very enjoyable book. It is a little racier than Going Under but it More...

With an against-all-odds couple that you will love and root for, Shallow is a beautiful sequel in the Going Under Series by Georgia Cates.

Wow. I had high hopes for Shallow because, let's face it, Payton is one badass chick. The girl nearly stole Going Under from Claire and Jessie and I was beyond pumped for her to have her own story. Georgia Cates delivered. Shallow was everything I'd hoped for and so much more. Seriously, the story, particularly Payton, was almost too awesome to handle.

I was so excited that Payton got her own book. I loved her in Going Under and connected with her right away. I can think of a handful of characters I've identified with like Payton. She just drew me in. Payton is a solid character with a strong voice and personality.

Because Payton has a firm presence, I knew she would need a guy to keep up with her. So, when I met Nick Hawke *sigh*, I knew she met her match. Nick is cocky, snarky, and exudes sex appeal. But, he's also a lot deeper than I initia More...

EJOYABLE BUT CLICHED

This is a straight forward classic romance, between the feisty heroine Payton Archer, and tattooed bad boy Nick Hawke. When Payton drives into the back of Nicks car on the way to watch a street race. She has no idea this gorgeous guy is one of the drivers in the race. Nick is friends with Jessie Boone the hero from the first book. Jessie warns Nick to stay away from Payton, she's not the usual type of girl he hooks up with. But that's easier said than done.
This is a pleasant More...

The second book in Georgia Cates’ Going Under series, Shallow, was a nice, simple read. What it lacked in depth, it made up for in mysterious circumstances between Payton’s family and Nick’s. I enjoyed Payton as a character. She’s smart, witty and has a sharp tongue and she’s not afraid to use it. Nick, on the other hand, was your average player who meets his match.

Payton Archer is a take no prisoners, lay it all out there kind of girl. Nick Hawke is a player and has had more than his fair share of female attention. Yet when the two meet, sparks fly and from then on, neither can get the other out of their mind.

Nick is an adrenalin junkie, and Payton is by no means backing down from the challenges he presents to her. But she also doesn't want to be just another notch on his bedpost. Add to that the pressure from her parents to stay away from him, and his m More...

After reading Going Under, I could not wait to read Payton's story, because I just really liked her personality/sass; so I knew this was going to be great...and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! Payton is back again, and this time, she is shooting her mouth at one of Jessie's buddies from Collinsville, a guy that is known as a player, Nick Hawke. From the second these two eye each other, there is just some connection between them, because, after their first meet, they cannot really be apar More...

Oh, this is so goood! I loved Payton in "Going Under" so I was so happy when I found out that she had her own story :). I also like that we get more of Claire and Jessie.

Payton has a mouth on her and has no filter, which is why I love her.

So Payton, Claire, and Jessie crossed over to Jessie's old territory to watch a drag race. While driving to the race, Payton gets into a fender bender with Nick Hawke (who is on More...

Georgia Cates has done it again! First I would like to thank AToMR for allowing me to read an ARC copy of Shallow and allowing me to be a part of this tour. I read Going Under and after reading it I needed more! I love Claire and Jessie's story so when I found out Georgia was doing another book but it was going to be about Payton and Nick I was jumping like a crazy women in my living room.

I loved Shallow even more than the first book, Going Under. Shallow can be read alone but I would recommend reading Going Under first so you can be introduced to Jessie and Claire. I loved Jessie and Claire and I didn't really think anyone could top them. I have such a soft spot for faux bad boys that have a sweet side- and Jessie did big time. So I thought there was no way that I would connect with Payton and Nick in the same way. But I was so very wrong. I liked Payton and Nick even MORE than More...

I didn't struggle with the review for this one as much as I did with the first book, Going Under. In fact, I think that Payton Archer and Nick Hawke made better main characters than they did secondary characters. Their personalities were a lot stronger and they were instantly more likable. I also enjoyed getting a different perspective on Jessie and Claire, and realized that they looked so much better through Payton’s eyes.

It's been a while since I read a contemporary YA, and SHALLOW is the second book in a series of which I had not read the first. So, unlike readers who had read GOING UNDER, the world, style of writing, and characters were wholly unfamiliar to me. Sometimes, this does not bother me at all. Most times this does not bother me at all. But, I found myself wishing that I hadn't started with book #2 of this series. The main character, Payton and her friends had a di More...

Now while I liked Going Under I absolutely LOVED Shallow!!! It's definitely going on my re-read list

I don't even know where to begin with how much I loved Payton and Nick's story...I fell in love with the two of them the minute their sarcastic comebacks started to fly! I loved every word in this book and there is not one thing I would change about either of these two characters, they prove that opposites attract and you can't bullsh*t a bullsh*tter because Payton and Nick called each other out o More...

LOVED IT..

Things may have been a little too fast but that's okay!

The story was good and it was filled with secrets. I had many suspicions (view spoiler)[I even thought that Payton's mom is Nick's mom! That would've been inappropriate in many ways! (hide spoiler)] about the mystery that is Nick's mom. I love the anticipation and I love how it turned out.

It was really good that these two characters were resilient. Payton isn't overly dramatic with the lack of parental guidance.. she even defies them.. and Nick isn't very bitt More...

When I read Going Under I really didn't like it. I felt it to be really cliche and quite typical of the bad boy storyline. I was even more disappointed when it seemed like the bad boy was more enviromentally challenged than an actual bad boy. I had no sense of that redundancy in this book. I really really enjoyed it. I felt that Nick was two hundred times more interesting than Jessie and that the wit of Payton was a lot more successful in this book than in the first book. Sometimes in Going Unde More...

"Shallow" really drew me in, and exceeded my expectations. Though it might have to do with Hawke, the new bad boy of the book series. I was also excited to see that this book had an epilogue, as the first book, giving a better bridge for the reader. The writer has a talent for writing bad boy redemption stories.

This book centers around Claire’s friend Payton, and how she met Jessie’s Collinsville friend, Hawke (Nick). The writer leaves you wanting to read more about how they met and came togeth More...

'Shallow' is the second book in a new adult/young adult contemporary series. It revolves around Nick Hawkes, who has had a way with the ladies for as long as he can remember. Getting a girl has never been an issue for him, at least until he meets Payton Archer - a seemingly perfect rich girl who appears to have a perfect life. Against the odds and the advice of those around them, they have a strong connection that they can't ignore. Will Payton rock the boat of her perfect life to see what's bet More...

It was going to be a five star yo until the last few pages.

I HATE epilogues. It ruins it for me. I like leaving the future up to the imagination. I like to believe what I want to believe not have an epilogue which makes that pointless.

Other than that I really enjoyed this book, more so than the first which is quite rare.

Second outing of the Going Under series and I loved this one. Nick Hawke was an amazing character and loved Payton as well. Sometimes when a second book focuses on other characters and you only get a taste of the original characters, I feel sad, but this one included Claire and Jessie a fair amount so I didn't miss them! Georgia is a definite upcoming writer that deserves to be read!

This is the first book in the Going Under series that I have read and I really enjoyed it! It is easy to read as a standalone as we are introduced to two new main characters, Payne and Nick. It is a fascinating story of two fun teenagers who have more in common than they realise. They are from two different towns, Payton is from a wealthy family and Nick is the son of a cop, but they can’t deny the connection that they have.
