The world didn’t end with a bang, didn’t go out in a ball of fire and fury. Nor did it end in ice, but in some strange way ice was the end; or maybe it was the beginning of something more.

Bethany is stunned and horrified when she finds herself suddenly alone in a world that was alive only moments before. Terrified, she flees into the streets of her town, looking for answe

So if you took out most of the story and only kept the small percentage that was about the alien invasion and what they were doing to try and survive I would have really enjoyed this book. Instead we get page after page after page of memories of the time before that the main character Bethy thinks of. That or her constantly freaking out about going into buildings or small spaces, or constantly being drawn to Cade, but then remembering after making out with him and being all he is my everything! ...more

This book is all talk, albeit talk while running from aliens. I feel like nothing really happened... There was no point, no buildup, no climax, no big anything.... Just a lot of inner dialogue and running.

Our female MC finds herself surrounded by frozen bodies as the alien invasion kicks off. The books starts painfully slow with pages of Bethany standing around pondering the cashier that was frozen mid-transaction with her. Ah, boring ain't a good start, just saying!

She finally moves and is sa

When I saw that this book was free on Amazon I quickly snagged a copy after reading the synopsis and loving it! The book starts instantly and then it doesn't stop! There was action around every corner which made my heart pound and I wasn't able to stop reading! I wasn't really expecting the plot to have as much as it did in it to be honest as I honestly wasn't expecting aliens to be the threat but it was a fresh idea and I really enjoyed it! The idea of the aliens was amazing and I liked that th ...more

This book was slow and repetitive at times. She did pull me into it towards the end and I want to read book two now.

The Ravening series caught my attention and did NOT disappoint. With aliens, death, romance and plot twists this series kept me on the edge of my seat and occasionally putting it down to stop and say "wait, what? Did that just happen?"

I couldn't help but fall in love with the mysterious Cade, with his unfailing dedication to Bethany and almost chilling bravery he left me swooning!

Bethany pulled on my heart with all the loss she endures. I cried for her and with her. She transforms greatly over
A teen end of the world by aliens apocalypse. I got it for free.
I flew through it mainly because the action was pretty non stop. Even when there was a lull, romance reared its ugly head.

Here we a have book with the little Princess, Bethany, who has the dream boyfriend and wants the bad boy too. Gah! Add to that she is the clumsy damsel in distress who trips over her own feet and feels guilty over her wishy washy feelings towards the two boys.
Oh and she's claustrophobic.

Ravenous by Erica Stevens is a sci-fi Young Adult novel, but I also felt that it could do well for the New Adult Age range as well. The cover is very pretty, but I find myself wondering what it has to do with the novel. It still did its job and dragging me in, as did the description of the novel. One of the first things about this novel

I don't want to waste any more time on this book but feel I have to warn others so here are the status updates and comments I made while reading it:

"Wow, this is an awkward read. It's clunky and doesn't flow at all."

"You've gotta be kidding...Cade is such a bad boy....blah blah.... she's always felt a connection to him for some reason.....blah blah... he's totally saving her... Ugh!"

"Flipping thru pages now just hoping things improve. So apparently there's aliens but all Bethany worries about is

this book has so much potential to be an amazing book. it is the 2nd book I have read about aliens, and I really really love to hate this book. it has a great plot, a lot of action which had my heart racing, love interests, and the writing style was great, it started off interesting and hooked me instantly. HOWEVER the only thing that is keeping me from giving it a 5 star rating is this: for ever 10 pages of extreamly descriptive detailed about the surroundings, and her feeling, fears, thoughts, ...more
So this book was recommended to me by one my fellow goodread users (Thanks for that Karina :) ), and I am really glad she did! It was a great suspenseful book about what would happen to the world if aliens took over and have changed the world we once knew dramatically. Everything is gone, from the internet to cars, and now even people have been frozen in place..the only ones left awake a group of teenagers who had everything taken away from them – their parents, friends – who have to grow up qui ...more

So far, Erica darling, loving it. Little confusing I thought at first until I realized you might have written literally from the point of view of a young woman trying to make sense of roller coaster of severe awareness and forced to make the most crazed decisions when they didn't knew which way everyone and everything was going. If I was lucky enough to have not died from pissing myself to death in the beginning and was writing a journal of my unbelievable adventure of horror, it would most lik ...more

A disappointing book that had a lot of potential. I had previously read (and loved) "Captive" and was hoping to enjoy this book as well. Unfortunately, this seems to be a manuscript that was written when Stevens was much younger and hadn't quite found her "voice" yet. It also needs a good proof-reader as there are many spelling and grammatical errors.

This has the potential to be a really good book. I found the main plot line to be great - a small group of teenagers trying to survive an alien inv
Really 3.5 stars, but I rounded up because I'm curious to know what happens next because I know that Cade isn't dead.
It was a little slow going for me for the first chapter or so, but I'm glad that I stuck with it because it really picked up.
Bethany is our made character and I found her very irritating for a while, particularly because of the name, I'm not sure why. She just came off as whiny. Cade saves her and out of nowhere like five chapters in, do we find out that she actually has a boyfrie

I have to admit that I was captivated by this book. Between trying to figure out why the aliens are doing what they're doing and how Bethany and the other survivors escaped the fate of everyone else AND waiting impatiently for Bethany to admit she had deep, dark feelings for Cade... well, it all worked for me.

While I can understand Bethany's reluctance to hurt Bret, especially considering the crazy they found themselves in the middle of, I was SO ready for her to just go all in with Cade. It was

What would you do if Aliens came to earth and wiped out most of the population…apart from you and a few others? This is what happens to Bethany and she is forced to rely on her survival instincts as she discovers those same aliens are pursuing her and the other remaining people.

To up the tension further, add Cade, a mysterious and gorgeous figure from her past who has unusually good survival skills and a ferocious urge to protect Bethany. Then there’s Bret, the high school sweetheart she knows

To the lists!

What I liked:
1. The story line was kind of original. I loved how so many details were given about the aliens and how they looked and acted.

2. The grammar was decent, although and editor could have helped, it was much better than I expected from a free kindle book.

3. The author explains the main character's emotions and motivations very well.

4. The main character Bethany is brave and smart in most situations.

What I didn't like:
1. Insta-love! I hate how Bethany and Cade fall in love s

Read it..

No spoilers...
Bethany and Cade grow up in the same town but are no longer friends. Their link/bond started in childhood but cemented the day aliens attacked their small town. They, along with Bethanys siblings fight to survive being captured and killed by the aliens. This book has YA in it but it was very graphic in the descriptions of how the aliens took the lives of humans so not recommended for under 18.
With that being said... This was an amazing book. I could not stop reading. It

2.5 stars ... vacillating between "it was ok" and "liked it ... ok". There just didn't seem to be much story, it was just running from the aliens while falling for a boy. It was very repetitive ... Bethany is clumsy. We are told (and witness it) over and over. Bethany is claustrophobic, again, we know her "lungs will tighten" because we get that description so often! It was just too much with Bethany's constant inner thoughts about Cade too ... these two quotes were on the very same page (page 1 ...more

Ravenous had the potential to be a great sci-fi, YA read. Unfortunately while I enjoyed the story it didn’t quite reach that level for me.
Ravenous is an action packed novel about a group of teenagers trying to survive an alien invasion. The story was so full of suspense that it had no real boring parts. The action starts from the very first page and does not stop until the end. However, I felt that the action came at the expense of character development. I found myself not really feeling anythi

How in the world did I miss this series!

I feel late, lol. I'm all over alien themed genres. This is for sure Sci-Fi over paranormal all the way around. But I loved it!

Very fast paced, and fast PG-13 love but it works for this YA book. I have to say I just finished the 2nd one in the series and planning on buying the 3rd tonight. You can easily devour these books in no time flat and just get sucked into it. I love the characters and the great description of the aliens. For sure highly recommend t

I really wanted to like this book because I actually loved other books by this author. However, I just could not bring myself to finish it. There is nothing wrong with the main character (Bethany) being a little self-conscience but I hated how she thought the world of everyone else and her self-esteem was little to none. Another thing was that once she started discussing or thinking about something it went on for quite a while dragging the story out. I could not take any more of her comparing Ca ...more
I don't know what to really say about this book. Honestly, I don't know what to say. I didn't really enjoy it. It's pegged as sci-fi, but the aliens are mostly just alluded to.

I guess it's supposed to be about this group of teenagers trying to survive this alien invasion that has resulted in most of the world frozen and then sucked dry. But really, that seems to be more of a subplot. The main plot seems to be more of a love triangle thing and a Bethany trying to figure out who she wants to be. I

This book was a great read and escape from the teenage angst I have been reading. Although this book in the first few chapters kept me going "What,Huh?" It would jump to and from present time to memories, knowing it was a way to get the story put together, to under stand Cade and Bethany's relationship more clearly. This book still kept me on the edge. I even found myself nervously shaking, it pulled me that much in. A bit predictable a times but I really can't complain. I have already purchased ...more

I blame the Editor Leslie Mitchell at G2 Freelance Editing, for not knowing English Grammar. If I can ignore the 'I' vs 'me' in every sentence, and the poorly written copy of all the other Dystopian novels, then I can say, it was somewhat compelling. But I share the same thoughts as so many about Bethy....she is irritatingly unlikable. I read Book 2, and it was written a little better than Book1. Maybe Book 3 will be, too...but, I can't make myself pay anything for it. So if I find a free electr ...more

This book... ugh. I am not in the habit of giving up on books. But this one? I might just have to.

So this girl "Bethy" is one of the only people not frozen when aliens start to take over the world. Enter Cade, the boy she hasn't talked to since she was a wee little lassie but now has a bad reputation. Of course he's the love interest. Forget her boyfriend, who is also not frozen. It really annoyed me how inconsistent she was "I'm afraid! I love Cade! I'm with Bret! I want Cade! I don't want to

Ravenous follows a teenage girl named Bethany as she tries to survive in a world where aliens have frozen nearly everyone to have their blood sucked dry or stored for later. Those who did not freeze must try to stay alive no matter what the cost.

This was an okay book. The plot is rather simple- it's not confusing or hard to follow. The characters are easy enough to remember, although they didn't stand out to me. Bethany herself was an okay heroine. There weren't too many things that bothered me
