The Drummer Boy of Vicksburg written by G. Clifton Wisler is an awesome book! I absolutely loved this book because it gave me a peak into the life and perspective of an American child during the Civil war. It’s always interesting to view life in a different time period, and try to understand how much it has changed. This book captures many different events and gives the reader a broad perspective of the civil war, and the type of situations that the people faced because of the war.

G. Clifton Wisler (born 1950) is the author of more than sixty-three books, many of them are historical fiction for young adults. Wisler lives in Plano, Texas in the United States, where he continues to work on his doctoral dissertation on the history of the Ninth Texas Infantry Regiment in the American Civil War.
