I was surprised by how much I liked this one, especially as it was very pg. I absolutely hated Bill, he is one of the biggest pieces of crap I have come across. The way the disregarded his family, didn't care what they thought, didn't have a clue that everything that was happening was his fault, yet still expected his soon to be ex wife to fix it all, to support him and his pregnant girlfriend. What an ass!

I will be the first to admit that romances aren’t my usual forte. I have always found them to be silly and repetitive, but for some reason, this book hit me just right, even though it all ends happily ever after with a dashing man riding into save the day. Does life really work out that way?
No, I did not spoil the ending, all books in this genre end the same way.

I liked this book. It has some interesting plots -- the end of a 20-year-marriage because the physician husband has fallen for his 24-year-old nurse, who is now pregnant. The three children have different reactions, but the most negative is Ty's, the 16-year-old son who is such a good pitcher that the major leagues are already watching his progress.

Good contemporary romance, strong female friendships carrying heroine Maddie through divorce and start of business venture. Interesting romance with younger man, a professional ballplayer turned high school coach. One wonders what sort of past experiences mold a younger man to feel attracted and appreciative of an older lady.

Maddie Townsend thought she had the perfect life. Her husband, the town's pediatrician, and three wonderful children. Until she is blind-sided when her husband asks for a divorce and tells her he has been cheating on her with his nurse and she is pregnant. This little family's world comes crashing down all around them. Maddie has been a stay at home mom and now has three children to raise. Her eldest son Ty is the star pitcher on the High School baseball team. After his dad moves out, his grades...more
I was really into this book up until about the last 100 pages when it started to get cheesy romantic. Of course you do find it in the romance section, so it only makes sense.
The story is about Maddie, a mother of 3 who just found out that her husband has been cheating on her and knocked up his girlfriend. So they get a divorce. Which is a sign for her two best friends to make her join in their idea in opening up a spa in their tiny little town. While doing this, the town's cute new baseball coa...more

Maddie Townsend is a stay at home mom with no job skills. Her husband has an affair with a woman half his age and leaves his wife for his pregnant mistress.
Maddie faces alot of challenges but finds strength and resolve. She finds that she lost herself within her marriage and regains her self esteem.
This was an easy book to read and a good beach or vacation book.

I really like this book. I had never read any of Sherryl Woods books before. I was looking at a website that told you which Authors read like other Authors. I was trying to find another Author like Robyn Carr. I am glad I went to that site. Any fans of Robyn Carr's "Virgin River" series will love Sherryl Woods "Sweet Magnolia" series. I think the reason this novel was so enjoyable is because it deals with such real life issues and those issues are dealt with in a very realistic manor. You will f...more
If one is comparing this novel to Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove series, then Woods' Sweet Magnolias book one comes up way short. I got the immediate feeling early in the novel that Coach Maddox's instant attraction to the soon-to-be-divorced main character, Maddie Townsend, was just too contrived, and I wrestled with that feeling throughout the novel. I also found the plot weakened when the cheating doctor was away from his small-town practice for two weeks, along with his pregnant girlfriend had...more
This is Maddie's story. She's divorced from her cheating husband and meets an intriguing younger man--her son's baseball coach. She has 3 children who are suffering in various ways from the divorce, an ex who's getting married to his pregnant fling, and two forever friends who come up with a way for Maddie to make a living now that she's divorced. She's got a business degree, and her friends want to open a spa/gym for women only--because the only other gym in town is nasty/stinky. Most of the co...more
I'm about 100 pages from the end of this book and I just can't continue reading it. I do not find it enjoyable when the women are so judgmental and catty. And it makes it that much worse when the author is a woman. So no one says anything about her husband leaving his wife and kids because he impregnated his nurse, who is 16 years his junior. But heaven forbid, should Maddie consider dating a man who is 10 years younger than her. It seems as though every woman in this town is bitter, judgmental...more

After almost 2 decades of marriage Maddie is left with no husband (as he has knocked up a nurse and needs to marry her before it is born), no job (as he has been a housewife since she was married) and heartbroken sullen children (they blame her for the divorce). Her friends go out for a night of drinking and talk her into opening a spa for women....
Right about there I fell asleep and had no inclination to go back to the story. A bit too cliched for me

I have read not many of Woods novels but from what I read in this one I didnt care for the plot as much. I know it happens in real life but I want to read a book to get away from real life not get closer to it. I loved the characters though. I loved how they supported each other no matter what. I loved the small town feel and I would love to live in the place that she created. Besides the plot I loved eveything, but for me the plot is everything that makes the story great.
I have enjoyed Ms. Woods' writing in the past. Her characters are 'real' enough for this type of books. As for this one in particular: Bill reminded me so much of my ex! Same attitude, same responses, same behaviour. So well done with this character. Maddie on the other hand, was too good to be true and frankly her reaction to her husband's behaviour made me want to shake her. Love her friends and her mother and looking forward to the next book on the series.
This was a well balanced romantic novel. The characters involved were realistic and the plot was believable. The town sounds like a normal small town in the South and the persons react as they would in that scenario.
I liked the character, Maddie and enjoyed getting to know her.
This was an enjoyable romance for a first in a series. I want to know what happens to her friends.

This series is FANTASTICALLY funny & one amazing read. You will not be disappointed at all by most if any of het series. This one I enjoyed. But an old one if you can fined all the old copies in the library or second hand stores is the "AND BABY MAKES THREE" & "AND BABY MAKES THREE: THE DELACOURTS OF TEXAS". That is touching, funny, & worth the read.
A lovely chick-lit/kind of new romance book, totally enjoyable. I loved this story. The characters are interesting, the plot decent a tiny bit twisted away from the predictable 'will they get together?' chick lit plot.
I recommend it for anyone who just wants to escape a little.
I'll look for more books by Sherryl Woods.

With two other careers to her credit before becoming a novelist and four states in which she's lived for extended periods of time, Sherryl Woods has collected friends and memories, along with way too much unnecessary junk.
