This is Linda Berdoll's sequel to her Pride and Prejudice sequel "Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife". In this story, readers once again visit the Darcys as they raise their babies, enjoy their marriage, and manage Pemberley. However, with Berdoll's inclusion of old and new characters, the Darcys face many new adventures and perils.
Since I did not like "Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife", I was hesitant to read this sequel. However, once I stopped comparing this story to Austen and the orig...more

Blah. I have to say that I really enjoyed Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife, even in spite of myself. But this one does nothing for me. The author spends so much time rehashing everything that happened in her first "sequel" to Pride and Prejudice that I got 100 pages into it and nothing much had happened. The author doesn't seem to understand her audience. No one who hasn't read Pride and Prejudice is going to bother with this book, and I think the same is true (to a lesser extent) of Mr Dar...more

This review is going to be really unhelpful, but I read this a while ago. I'd actually like to go back and read the series again, but have too many other books to read.

I really liked the 1st book and thought that it was perfectly saucy and randy, but had a tough time getting into this one. There are a few sexy romps, but it seemed like there was character overload and I had a tough time keeping everyone straight.

In the end, it was a fun read and the payback scene for one of our favorite...more

A real disappointment. Mediocre writers should never try to write a sequel to one of the greats. Also, the insertion of copious sex does not mask the lack of an interesting or even plausible plot nor the author's silly pretensions to the spoken language of the early 19th century. Her dialogs come off as merely silly.

This author has neither the wit nor the literary skill of Ms. Austen and should have used her writing abilities for dime romance novels, not a sequel to an Austen masterpiece.

Wow. What a disappointment. I'd have to say, the first book she wrote was much more interesting than this one. This one just rehashes so much that happened in the first book and then rehashes itself over and over. The timelines were disjointed and hard to follow, plus all the extra character plotlines to follow. If you have to read either of these books, stick with the first one. Just watch out for the explicit sex talk in both books.

Yes, this is Jane Austen fanfiction. Yes, I've read it. Yes, I own it. But, hey, if I can't be honest about that here, why bother?

Fun times, if you're into P&P and have read and liked the first "sequel." Otherwise, skip it, because it'll drive you nuts. I own it, because sometimes I'm in the mood for it, but honestly, I skip parts I don't like and just move on to the stuff I do.

Berdoll continues her VERY passionate take on the married life of Darcy and Elizabeth, which is entertaining itself. Better than that, she goes on to speculate on dear Georgiana's coming of age. Thankfully, Berdoll infuses her with some much-needed backbone, and her story becomes as interesting as the main one. All I can say is that she BETTER write another one :)

I'm not sure why I do this to myself, but once I start a series, I HAVE to finish it. It's a compulsion. So going into this book, I knew it was going to be bad. And it was. It was like watching a family photo slide show. Little chapters that don't necessary connect together.
I hope she doesn't write another one to continue the series.

After as much as I loved the first book, I expected to love this one just as much, and I have to say that I was disappointed. The plot is kind of strained and there's too much going on, and although in the end she ties the ends all together, it takes a long time to get there. I like it, but I don't love it, and I really wanted to love it.

Finally finished. I was disappointed---Berdoll's first was a lot of fun: just enough Austen style for a Janeite like me, balanced by ridiculous bodice-ripping silliness. This took me, what? Two or three months to drag myself through? The last third picks up, but getting past the first two thirds...I'm not sure it was worth it.

I hated this book. I thought that Berdoll's "Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife" and this book could be one and the same. I knew going into both books that they wouldn't compete with the original story. "Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife" was entertaing but "Darcy and Elizabeth" was just rehashing the first sequel. Overall a complete thumbs down.

I started this one, but didn't finish. It was a bit racy, and I began to dislike Mr. Darcy. She admits to writing the books with Colin Firth in mind, and I guess I don't see this character as the rutting stag/sex fiend she portrays him as. I enjoyed her first book, though it too was very sexy, and my try again some day.

What I learned from this book: Avoid Pride and Prejudice sequels and rip-offs! Unless you want to blight your memory of the original. Then go ahead. I picked this up out of boredom and it was awful. No plot, serious license taken with the characters and lots of that horrible "romantic porn" language.

Oh my God this SUCKS!!!!!!! I picked it up as an experiment as I have read all the Austen books twice- I laughed I cried I kissed 12.95 goodbye- This is a total insult to Jane Austen- I couldn't get beyond 50 pages- It may as well have Fabio on the cover with a rose in his teeth wearing a scrunchie!

This was a bit more of a trashy romance in my mind - very graphic and not at all what I expected. The story itself wasn't bad, not enough time spent on character development - I wanted the intensity between Lizzy and Darcy to continue, but mostly it was just about sex

As a companion to Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife this was an awful book. It did little to further the lives of Darcy, Elizabeth, and the other characters and instead of endearing the characters more I began to reject them while reading this book.

Berdoll continues her sequel of Pride and Prejudice. This novel focuses on the homelife of the Darcy's and their ever growing and often mischevious family. A wondeful book for those of us who just can't get enough of the Darcy's.

I LOVED Darcy and Elizabeth by the same author. It was so clever how the characters were written. This sequel introduces new characters. It was not a waste of time reading it, but it certainly wasn't as good as the first.

I love both books in this series so far. I like that Darcy and Elizabeth are becoming parents and these books give us more of an insight into their wonderful marriage. It's definitely one of the better P&P sequels.

Really liked this one. Darcy and Elizabeth have been married long enough that apparently she decide she could finally focus on something other then their sex life. It was a good book but beware of the sex scenes.
