I thought that The Melting Season was a pretty good book. I didn't find it very suspenseful or exciting, but I could easily relate to it because the main character, Giselle, was a serious dancer, as I am. Giselle was born into a family of prima ballerinas and famous dancers, and was expected to follow in their footsteps. Though she enjoyed her fine arts school and dance classes, she still felt sad that her dad was no longer with them, and that her mom was dating a man, Blitz, that she was not to

I really enjoyed this book. It was a story that was believable. Sometimes in books, the main character has a beautiful life, or at least things go the way he or she wants them to. This book WAS a little cheesy in some parts but the cheesiness just made it sweet.

This book is about how a girl has a life that revolves all around dancing. Her mom sent her father away when he was sick and so the girl, Giselle, never forgave her mom. Eventually she met a boy, Will, who changed her life. She started to seee that there was more to life than dance. She started to loosen up. She was scared though to find out the truth about her father, and how her mother was protecting her and how her life would change, and that she would have to find a way to deal with it. She

Giselle's life fell apart when her adored father, a dancer and choreographer, died ten years ago. Now 16, she attends a private arts school in NYC where her mother, a retired ballerina, teaches. Her sheltered life doesn't leave time for a social life and then she meets Will, who attends a public school outside NYC. Giselle's sometimes-clumsy attempts at first love are humorous as the relationship develops. By the end of the book, she remembers a family secret.

I love ballet and got this book from the library think I would really like it...Not So.
It was boring and didn't draw me in at all. The characters were annoying and it was hard for me to like any of them. There's a swear word on almost every page, maybe two. No joke! I read one chapter and was done with it. I don't recommend this book to anyone.

I loved this book. Ms. Conway took me into the world of ballet which is completely new to me. Giselle is a strong role model for young girls as she is smart and mature well beyond her years. She is so in touch with her convictions and doubts, her humanity shines through. I look forward to reading more from this author.

I LOVE this book!! It is fiction, but the ballerina in the book has so many experiences that every ballet dancer can relate to.

I just couldn't do it. Too boring, too much swearing, too predictable. :P
