The lesson of working together is an important one for all ages. Heck, I still need a reminder myself. Having my third grader read this outloud to our family, reminded me of the pressure we all feel to create something that is THE BIGGEST and BEST in all the world. I do this with kids' birthday parties. My kids do this with homemade gifts especially those for a favorite teacher.
Desmond and Clayton argue, try to do their own individual cards and then...more

Cute story about two friends who try to make a valentine together for someone they both admire. But when each friend doesn't like the way the other has contributed to the effort, they go their separate ways and try to make a special valentine individually. They soon find that things just aren't the same when they aren't working together. But can they find a way to mend their friendship and make the best valentine the class has ever seen? A great story for Valentine's Day that isn't too mushy, an...more

This story is about two mice working together to make a Valentine’s Day card for their teacher. The book contains detailed illustrations that help the children utilize their imagination in correlating the mice with people and the task at hand. This book is cheerful and invites the children to comprehend without thoughts of a condescending tone. The book efficiently depicts the importance of sharing and collaboration. Not only is this book a cute holiday read on Valentine's Day, but it is also important to teach communication and partnerships. Group work is part of a classroom and teaching your students how to work together is key for all of it to go smoothly. This book illustrates differences that some may have because they have different ideas about what they are working on but in the end they put their ideas together and come up with something great.
This is a good book to teach about sharing and working in twos. Two friends begin making a card for their teacher and disagree on how it should look tearing their project in half. Oh boy haven't we all seen that happen in the classroom. After going home and telling their parents they are encouraged to work together on the Valentine and do so the next day. Making Mrs.Mousely the perfect Valentine.
Two mice fall in love with the same Valentine. Desmond and Clayton decided the day before Valentines Day to make a card for their teacher. Instead, the boys ripped the card. Yet Desmond and Clayton decides to make another Valentines card for their teacher together and it was very creative. This book teaches students that when working teacher, nice things can be created.
Clayton and Desmond get into a fight but decide they need each other to make the best Valentine. They come up with an idea and they create the biggest and most perfect Valentine together, a giant Valentine mouse. The card ended up being for their teacher. A great book to teach about teamwork and working together.

This is a cute story to read about team work. It shows the kids the positives that come from working as a team and how much more creative two heads can be instead of one! It's a great prompt for discussion about how to treat on another.
This is a fun Valentine's Day book to read with children. The short and simple narrative and the cute and colorful illustrations are sure to be a hit with young children. It's a good story about patience, cooperation, and making up with friends after an argument.
Clayton and Desmond disagree about making a valentine for their teacher until they realize that teamwork means putting two different talents together to make one wonderful gift.
A cute book to add to the kids' Valentine's Day book shelf.
This book is all about two students who want to make a valentines card. They decide to together, but have a difficult time working together because they both have different ideas. They had a hard time but eventually figured out how to work together. This will be a good text to use at the beginning of the year to show how we work together.
