For years, Rob Frietag has resisted anything resembling a true emotional connection, preferring instead to explore life, and his own desires, without committing to anyone for very long. The reason remains known only to a few, among them Jack Gordon, his college cohort in female conquests, and life-long friend. At thirty-seven, while he is close to achieving his career goal...more

The Essence of Time by Liz Crowe is 4th book in her Realtors Series; it arguably the best of the 4.

Liz does an amazing job creating backstory for characters from Floor Time, Sweat Equity and Closing Costs. It provides true prospective into many of the decisions they make and made in the prior books; decisions that on the surface were beyond frustrating bu...more

Essence of Time was like an old college reunion. Around each page, a familiar face showed up. I loved the feeling of connection that I had with this book unlike any other book I’ve read recently. Seeing familiar characters such as Jack Gordon and Sara Thornton in new light, made Essence of Time a fun adventure-filled read. But ultimately this is Blake’s and Rob’s story as they find their way to each other and a part of the big Jack and Sara romance.
Rob Frietag and Blake Thornton look very differ...more

This book is hands down the best of the 4 books. Liz does an amazing job with this story giving you so much detail into Rob, Blake and Lila... Jack is very present and Sara as well :0)

The way she sets this book up is very very good, a three part series starting with Rob she takes you through his college years with Jack, then to paris and his second love, then to the states for his third love and finally brings you into the prior books where he met blake at the beer festival. Next up is blake and...more

Ok so at first I wasn’t so sold on Essence of Time. Jack and Sara are still around in this fourth installment of the Stewart Realty series but this time the story revolves around Blake, Sara’s brother, and his lover Rob, one of Jack’s oldest friends. We were introduced to Blake and Rob in Floor Time and they have been strong supporting characters ever since.

Essence of Time is probably one of HOTEST, most intense novels I have ever read! I am in awe of how Liz Crowe was able to tell so much of Bl...more

I'm not sure I should be reviewing this book right now. My mind was just blown to smithereens, my libido is off the richter scale and my heart is broken.

I'll go ahead and confess that I've read book 1 in the Stewart Realty series because I got it for $.99. I went to grab the second in the series, because who doesn't love a manwhore? I I didn't buy any more because $3.99 for less than 200 pages is a bit steep in my opinion.

Last week I see this book is $.99 so I buy it thinking it's going to be...more

Liz Crowe has done it again with her book Essence Of Time. It is an amazing and wonderful story of Rob and Blake, two entirely different young men with similar emotional needs. I have absolutely loved every book that Liz Crowe has written but when I started reading this book, I found myself not wanting to like these two men. HOWEVER, that was not to be. Liz's awesome genius spun a separate storyline for each character making it impossible not to fall head-over-heels for them. She gives a detaile...more

I'm one of those readers who cheats, and by that I mean that when I'm some way into a book and have gotten a feel for the characters, I cheat and glance at the end of the book so I can see how it's going to end. What's more, if I see something I don't like in the ending, I put the book away and stop reading. Crazy? Yes. Immature? Definitely! But it's the way I am and it's always been pretty easy for me to do. Until Essence of Time.

I was halfway through the book, thoroughly enjoying it all, and d...more

Article first published as eBook Review: Essence of Time by Liz Crowe on Blogcritics.

Essence of Timeis part of Liz Crowe'sStewart Realtyseries. This time, the storyline focusses on Rob and Blake - stepping back in time through their lives to find out why the men are the way they are, and following them through to present day.

Rob has avoided relationships all his life. Sure, he's had plenty of sexual encounters, but he won't approach anything resembling an emotional connection with anyone. Only J...more

I have read every book in this series and with each read I find myself thinking "WOW, that was better than the last" this one was no exception. Already being in love with the characters allowed me to dive right into the book already hooked the second I pressed download now on my kindle. This was the most emotional rollercoaster I have been on. There were times my heart was bursting with joy and being ripped with sorrow. I can not begin to tell you just how wonderful this story is and express tha...more

Liz Crowe is such an incredible writer, and I really like her style. I wasn't real sure about this book. I had heard a lot of very good things and this was a favorite book of many. However, I didn't quite feel that way because a lot of the book was focused on Blake and Rob who obviously are bi-sexuals. It took me over a week to read this book and I actually stopped midstream to read another book before finishing this one (something I never do).

But I have to say that I ended up loving the book, a...more

This was my favorite book of the series. It tells the story of rob and Blake from the beginning. I love how Liz crowe broker the book into sections. The first part being about rob and his back story. Starting with when he first met jack in college. You also learn more about jack in this book due to his history with rob. Then it's Blake's story from his relationship with Suzanne to meeting rob. Then the next section is about rob and Blake from the time they meet and goes through the yrs of their...more

I finished this yesterday and can't get it off my mind. I loved the first three of this series, but did not feel compelled to read about Rob and Blake. However, I noticed that Liz Crowe had added another book in the series that is due out at the end of this month. I can't stand to skip a book in a series so I picked this one up.
I am so happy that I did. It brings the entire cast full circle. Essence of Time makes the entire series "whole". I don't want to say "complete" because I have a feeling...more

This book in the Stewart Realty series is by far the best I have read. Liz has truly outdone herself in this one. Her characters are very well written and all those who should end up together should. It is obvious in the way the story is written which characters belong together and which ones don't. Rob and Blake, once they meet, seem oddly suited for each other. Even though it takes them awhile to come together, you get the impression right from the first time they meet, that these are soul mat...more

*WARNING - Do not attempt to read this book without having a massive amount of tissues ready. This review contains no spoilers :)

Essence of Time is, without a doubt, the best book that I have read this year. Liz Crowe continues to amaze & astound me with her spot on writing, superb character development & her ability to evoke such emotion from within the pages of her books.

HOLY FUCK. Those were the words that I said very loudly as I was in the throes of an ugly cry upon finishing this b...more

There are times that I tend to avoid truely emotional books specifically for the reason being that sometimes those that have intense emotions in each direction can be overwhelming to me. That being said, I do believe that if you are both physically and emotionally exhausted when you finish a book then it was certainly worth the read. This book evoked every single human emotion possible to feel and when it was over, I wanted more. No, I needed more. The way this book provides the storyline to cha...more

A definite MUST READ! Be ready for an emotional ridden roller coaster.

An avid reader, I have read everything from Shakespeare to Stephen King and never before have I felt so connected to characters as I did while reading Essence of Time. From the very first chapter I felt connected to Rob and the tragedy that was his life. In my opinion no one deserved happiness more. When he laughed, I laughed and when he hurt, I hurt. So when Blake came in to his life, I was ecstatic. Aside from, or maybe bec...more

Um.... yeah. For me, it seemed this book centered around the intimate parts of the partners for most of the book. It was too much. Toward the end, something major happens and that one thing was the most interesting part of the book. Even though, it wasn't necessarily a happy thing that happened.

Rob is a chef and struggles in the commitment area, due to some health issues. Blake got his heart broken by a female, so he is reluctant as well. (both are bisexual) They both find each other and decide...more

Ok first I have to say this was not what I expected, not my usual type of book, I do not think I read the warnings,so lets just say, there is M/M relationships in this book.
I will say this book was amazing and after awhile although I thought I would be disturbed reading some of the scenes I was not at all. This story is so beautifully written words are not enough.
It is a stand alone book, but from what I understand it is incorporated from another series which I do plan to read.

This long story took a long time to get the characters together. This is my first of the Stewart Realty Book so maybe that's the way they all are. You really get to know their backstory when they finally meet.

Rob and Jack meet in college. They are womanizing, drunk roomies. As they go their separate ways they keep in touch and stay in the same circle of friends even living on different continents. They each find love in their own way and it is so intertwined they could have been from...more

We meet both Rob and Blake in the first three Stewart Reality books as background characters. In Essence of Time we get to know the story behind these two and how they come to be a couple and what is driving them.

Our first introduction is to Rob we go back with him to when he is a Freshman in college. The first person Rob becomes friends with is Jack. We get to know Rob and start to get a better picture of what shaped him into the man we have met in the Stewart Reality books to date. As we go on...more

Essence of Time is officially tied with Paradise Hops as my favorite Liz Crowe book. It definitely has Liz's signature writing style, emotional turmoil, erotic sex scenes and plenty of time with characters old and new. The thing about the Stewart Realty series is that characters from previous books never completely leave the spotlight. They're all connected somehow and each character is crucial to another's development. I enjoy the connections because t...more

2 ½ stars.

This is one of those series that you continue reading cause you've already started and want to just read em all and "get it over with".

Essence of Time was so sad I almost wanted cried ... almost cried... OK! Fine, I cried.

Will read the other two books and then I can continue reading some other books.

I liked that The book was in three parts, different views. It gave me an insight to the characters that I didn't have before hand from books 1-3. There were many things that I didn't know...more

Loved to finally get Blake and Rob's story and see some of the background. Although, I didn't care for the jumping around 6months here, 2 years here, 5 years here, but was understandable to get the whole story in, but to jump 6 months from meeting Lila to upset over not being pregnant was too much.

I wanted to see the initial relationship build, see them all fall in love. Then dear Ms. Crowe crushed, Crushed, CRUSHED me at the end.... I saw it coming in the 3rd chapter of Lila's story.... but wh...more

EOT left me completely heartbroken to say the least. I'm a huge Liz fan and really enjoyed this story except for the ending. Although it encounters twists and turns near the end I still felt ripped apart. The story itself was good. I enjoyed learning about Rob and Jack ad college students and the experiences they faced that turned them into the men we love. The story of Rob and Blakes relationship was beautiful. I couldn't give half ratings but EOT is 4.5 stars!! Great job Liz!

LIZ CROWE HAS DONE IT AGAIN! In book 4 we are treated to a personal look in parts at each character ROB, BLAKE & LILA. We get to see there emotional struggles through many, many , many years while it crosses paths with books 1-3. Be warmed that if you read Closing Costs & were emotional at the end, this one will require a half box of tissues. Your in for one hell of a ride.

This was by far my favorite in the series so far. I loved going back and reading about familiar characters and how it all began. Blake and Rob’s story was very compelling and emotional for me. The sex scenes were hot! I Looking forward to book 5 and more Liz Crowe! Keep up the good work! Cant wait to see what happens next!

This book focuses on other characters from the previous books. Their story is the most emotional in the series so far and one of the most emotional I've read. Many different layers in this one, but again, I was completely drawn in and in the end, I really liked where the story was heading next.
