I really enjoyed reading this story because it reminded me of my childhood dinner dramas, when I did not want to eat my vegetables. I think this is a fun story to read to children who can all probably relate to very well. The story goes like this, a little girl called Daisy refuses to eat her peas but her mother tries to bribes her to eat her peas. She does this by offering various things, such as buying a chocolate factory, buying her an elephant, a fluffy pencil case and to do Daisy’s chores f...more

Eat Your Peas
Daisy does not like peas and there is nothing that will make her eat them. In the hope of persuading Daisy to eat her peas her Mum offers her a number of things, beginning with staying up an extra half hour to skipping her bath and then spiralling out of control by offering her a new bike, chocolate factories, a zoo and even a space rocket with double retro laser blammers. However, after ever offer her Mum makes Daisy says ‘I don’t like peas’. Daisy’s stubb...more

The book ‘Eat your Peas’ is a rather humorous story! Daisy despises peas and has a debate with her mum during dinnertime over her refusal to eat her peas. Her mum in a humorous desperation offers her outrageous incentives but Daisy keeps refusing to eat her peas. Towards the end, Daisy compromises with her mum that she will eat her peas only if her mum eats her Brussels sprouts. The story ends with a reversal of roles and mum moans, ‘But I don’t like brussel sprouts!’ They then decide to eat som...more
The three stars are mine; the kids would surely give it five. Once upon a time, the Easter Bunny was hopping through the grocery store, buying chocolate rabbits and jellybeans when she came across a bin of discounted books. Finding this and two others, the Bunny scooped them up and put them in children's baskets. (Of the three books, the Bunny was most dubious of this one.) However, one of the children declared that each book was the Favorite Book of its recipient, and so they were read again an...more
“Eat Your Peas” is my all time favourite children’s picture book. It is simple, yet captivating to all. Anyone that does not like peas can sympathise with Daisy, and her contempt for this simple, yet despicable task her mum craves of her. This will make even the most oppressively solemn one smile, or laugh.
There is a lovely form of personification at the beginning of the book, when the peas are described as “ganging up” on Daisy. The book follows a very simple, yet extremely comedic pattern, wh...more

The book has a very nice pace and pictures, easy to read phrases and a good topic: mother tries to persuade her little daughter to eat her peas. The solution presented is that mother promises daughter rewards, even unattainable ones such as purchasing all chocolate factories or several rockets. Moreover, daughter talks back to her mother and they end up eating ice cream together instead of their greens.

Daisy's mom will promise just about anything to get Daisy to eat her peas...chocolate factories, staying up late, bicycles. Nothing tempts Daisy. But, when Daisy 'shows' her mom the errors of her ways, dessert for all is the best reward.
A fun book with instant recognition and repetition for all ages.
