I was quite surprised when I found this book in the local library - I've seen the French tv film/mini series that is based on this book first (called L'enfant des loups) when I was really young and it was my first bigger experience with adult-aimed themes and topics. I've read the book only few years later (early teens). Je lui avais préféré Sous le ciel de Novgorod, mais on retrouve bien la plume âpre et perverse de Deforges. Un bon moment de lecture, dérangeant parfois.

Slow start. Only after the first 100 pages did it start to get interesting. The writing style is not my favorite. Sometimes the story seemed rushed.
