Dorothy Mack has a gift for minor characters, their worries and emotions, and her romances have an element of reality to them in that they are placed solidly in their time line. But some of that reality is unpleasant. The two tales in this volume are good, but had elements that left me cold in spite of the author's gifts in writing. Caveat lector.
