I should have really liked this. The topic was made for me. These are two of my favorite philosophers. But this is just one of those books written by an academic for an academic. It's Nietzsche understood through the lens of Lacan. Well, I haven't read Lacan, and he's not on my reading list. All I wanted to know was about the differing conceptions of the individual and of the construction of the self in relation to the broader society in both Emerson and Nietzsche.
