I had my theories and I thought I had figured out who A was until I started reading this book. It continues following Hanna, Aria, Emily, and Spencer as the mysterious “A” stalks them. A’s threats became more frightening after a slip when Hanna discovers who A is from an unblocked number. On her way to inform her friends, Hanna is hit by an SUV, which puts her in a coma.

Emily is shipped off to Iowa after her “de-gaying” fails. She is sent to live with her very strict aunt and uncle but she discovers that her cousins actually go out and party all night. She sneaks out with them and meets a girl named Trista who she becomes close friends with. The following morning, Emily and her cousins get caught but they put the blame on Emily causing her to run away back to Rosewood. Trista follows Emily back home and Maya, Emily’s girlfriend, sees them almost kissing.

Spencer continues to lie about writing the essay that won her the Golden Orchid award. She plagiarized her sister, Melissa’s, essay but her parents don't want to fess up to it because they don't want to ruin their image. Spencer gets into a fight with Melissa and pushes her down the stairs yet she blacked out when it happens. She discovers the she has been blacking out since she was younger and blacked out the night of Ali’s murder causing her to believe she had something to do with it.

Aria’s relationship with her English teacher, Ezra had come to a stop. Aria’s ex boyfriend followed her to Ezra’s apartment and calls the police. The police show up and arrest Ezra, leaving Aria to go live with her father and his mistress.

The suspense of this book leaves you wanting to know more after every chapter. The readers find out a great deal about the “Jenna thing” that haunted them and caused Jenna’s blindness. Her stepbrother, Toby, touched her while Ali was setting off the firecrackers. Ali saw this and misfired them causing Jenna’s blindness but Hanna’s best friend Mona was there to see it as well. Mona turns out to be the mysterious A and takes Spencer into her car and drives to the Floating Man Quarry. Mona tries to kill Spencer but they fight and Spencer pushes her off the cliff, killing her. Readers are left unsure about whom Ali’s actual murderer was but Melissa’s boyfriend, Ian, is convicted of the crime for dating Ali at the same time. Ian pleads guilty but is stuck in jail until proven so. But at the end of the book, Emily swears she saw Ali, which sets the stage for Wicked.

Unbelievable by Sara Shepard was the 4th book in the Pretty Little Liars series. It was very awesome at the end!!! I think it is Called Unbelievable for a reason! The last time I read a Pretty Little Liars novel, I was a Pretty Little Liars – the show – virgin. Now, however, the same cannot be said. While I do believe it is possible to read and watch at the same time, one almost has to observe them as two separate – albeit similar – entities. There are so many differences between the books and the show that time needs to be allotted so one can re-acclimate themselves to whichever they are consuming at any given time. While I do believe it is possible to read and watch at the same time, one almost has to observe them as two separate – albeit similar – entities. There are so many differences between the books and the show that time needs to be allotted so one can re-acclimate themselves to whichever they are consuming at any given time. Even the four main characters' personalities are slightly contrasting between the books and the show. While I appreciate and enjoy both, the books are certainly darker, whereas the girls' characterizations on the show are, in comparison, whitewashed. With this said, though, let's tackle the fourth novel in the series: Unbelievable.

At first, I felt that Unbelievable started off flat. With the girls separated geographically from Emily, consciously from Hannah, and emotionally from Spencer, there was a disconnection between the storylines and, more importantly, their characters. At the heart of this series, I think the most important aspect of all the various secrets is the girls' friendship... both pre and post Ali's death. Luckily, Shepard didn't keep her four heroines separated for long, reuniting them quickly. Although it could be argued that these distances were bridged rather easily, given the other obstacles the girls face and how unappealing the separations were, this rapid plot movement didn't hinder the book. However, even after the four girls came back together again, their relationships with each other and others were already altered.

In comparison to the conclusion of book four, the beginning – no matter how memorable because of its flaws – was extremely overshadowed. Shockingly, Shepard revealed both Ali's murderer and, perhaps more importantly, A. Or did she...? If nothing else has become apparent after four Pretty Little Liars novels, things aren't always what they seem in Rosewood for Aria, Spencer, Hannah, and Emily. Clues are tossed to them only to be ripped away and proven false; they're made to feel comfortable only to be thrust out into an emotional tundra over and over again. Red herrings run rampant through the series, so it wouldn't be a surprise to find out in the fifth book that what the girls thought to be finished at the end of the fourth was really just an illusion, a grand trick to further torment them. If nothing else, all four of them still have secrets, and, obviously, they have yet to learn the lesson that, in Rosewood, secrets just aren't allowed... at least not for them.(less)

Sometimes when I would have trouble in school or maybe with sports I would have to stay strong, and keep on going through with it. Just like in the book, everyone has trouble with things, but you just have to keep on going through with it and keep your head up during tough times. I thought I knew what to expect; Unbelievable is the fourth book in Shepard’s Pretty Little Liars series, following Pretty Little Liars, Flawless, and Perfect. Shepard has a talent for making the series flow together seamlessly. Shepard has talent, period. While each book so far has read like a chapter in the overall series, I keep finding myself satisfied at the end. Don’t mistake me—I still want LOTS more, the who dunnit, the whys, and the hows… But I’ve read some series where their versions of cliffhangers are giving you half the story, no answers, and making you wait a year until the next book. Well, I’m sure I’d be going crazy if I had to wait that long for my next Liars installment…And thankfully I don’t have to wait. But I have to say, Sara Shepard does a fantastic job of making the unsatisfying seem satisfying.

So…In case you haven’t read the books, watched the tv series, or seen my reviews of the previous books…The Pretty Little Liars series is about a group of girls who used to be friends…before one of them disappeared. Now, years, later, someone starts sending the other girls messages threatening to expose all their secrets.

For anyone who has watched the tv series, it follows books one through three pretty closely. Perfect had a very climactic ending, and since the series seemed to end where Perfect ended, I had no idea what to expect of Unbelievable. But I didn’t expect anything. I didn’t see any of it coming.

I’ve said before, I love mysteries, but I’m HORRIBLE at them. And this is BY FAR one of the juiciest, most gossipy, delectable mysteries I’ve ever read. And I still have no idea what’s coming.

The only thing I know, is that I don’t believe ANYTHING. The ending was too good. And it’s only the fourth book. So, it CAN’T BE the ending. I know there’s more. I have four more books sitting on my desk to prove it. Oh yeah, there’s A LOT more. But that’s all I’m going to share. For now.

So frackin’ Unbelievable!(less)

This is definitely a guilty pleasure series. These books are fun to read (they remind me so much of the Gossip Girl books), but perhaps not the most memorable, as I read the first three books of this series a few months ago and found that I was having trouble trying to remember what had happened in the previous books when I picked up this fourth one. This is definitely a guilty pleasure series. These books are fun to read (they remind me so much of the Gossip Girl books), but perhaps not the most memorable, as I read the first three books of this series a few months ago and found that I was having trouble trying to remember what had happened in the previous books when I picked up this fourth one. I also think I just might have not been in the right mood for this book because it took me several weeks to get through it, as I kept starting other books at the same time and reading them instead, unlike how I read each of the first three of this series in a day or two.

I have only seen a couple of episodes of the Pretty Little Liars TV show and wanted to at least read up to this book because it was originally the last and final book of the series (which has since been extended) before continuing watching the show. I had heard that we find out who "A," the mysterious stalker of Hanna, Emily, Aria, and Spencer is in this book and we do, but the book nevertheless manages to end with a new cliffhanger and mystery.

Perhaps part of the reason I had such difficulty in getting through this book is because my favorite storyline--the relationship between Aria and her English teacher--was not a part of this book. There's not too much romance in this book, except for maybe Hanna and Lucas as a future possibility. Romance really drives a story for me, and I think the lack of it in this book was a reason why I didn't enjoy it as much as the previous books in the series. Hopefully I'll see more romance in the following books. Despite not having much romance, I did enjoy the mystery of trying to find out who "A" was and who murdered Ali, and I couldn't put the book down when I had a fourth of it left, when all of the answers to these mysteries are revealed.

I will definitely continue reading this series, especially when I am craving some "book candy" (something fun without requiring much thought on my part), but I don't think I could read these books back-to-back.(less)

Like all of the Pretty Little Liars books, Unbelievable was, well, unbelievable! I especially loved this book because it was kind of like the grand finale of the first four books. It had a amazing suspense and Sara Shepard constantly kept me guessing as to who A was and who Alison's killer was. That's the thing about these books, Sara Shepard doesn't drop subtle hints. She makes you believe with every fibre of your being that Spencer or Melissa is the killer, then in the next book she completely drops it and makes you feel silly for thinking you had it all worked out. I had the feeling she was going to do the same thing with Mona being A in this book, and lo and behold, A's epilogue talks about a new A in town. But of course, the mystery couldn't end 4 books in, could it?

These books are an absolute rollercoaster. Spencer is the killer, then she isn't. I stop suspecting Mona as A, then she turns out to be A. I suspect Ian having a part in Ali's murder, and then he's probably innocent. I find out Mona and Jenna are friends, and not just after meeting in the burns clinic. I find out Jenna and Ali set up the fireworks prank together, and that Jenna is definitely blind.

Unbelievable and Perfect completely shook up my suspicions and now I don't know what to think! The author has hinted strongly as Melissa being the killer, but I never know whether to trust her hints or not, since they're often discarded in the next book. I guess all I can do is go back to suspecting Lucas, Ezra, Jenna and maybe Maya.

On a somewhat lighter note, I'm so happy that Emily's parents stopped being assholes in this book, though only after they feared she was missing or dead. And their appalling behaviour was simply transferred to the relatives in Iowa, who treated Emily like heathen scum and then kicked her out for corrupting their children with her ~partying ways.

I'm really curious as to how the parents found out about their kids sneaking out, because it would totally be A/Mona's style to dob them in, if she weren't on the other side of the country. I also wondered if Maya had called and the parents then figured out their children were missing. Trista also gives me the creeps, but I don't suspect her of anything thus far.

I don't really have much more to say about Unbelievable. I could obsess over Mona being A for 3 paragraphs, but I won't. I think that Mona discovering Ali's discarded diary during Maya's move was great on the part of the author, because it didn't even occur to me that A could have Ali's diary. Actually, despite the author mentioning the diary pretty heavily, it didn't even occur to me that that's what A was using to mine the secrets. I just assumed A was close with Ali and she'd told them everything, and I barely wondered why they waited so long to start blackmailing the girls.

Overall: Unbelievable sheds light on the identity of A, but puts forth even more questions. I'm beginning to feel like I should just stop speculating on A and the killer, because the author clearly doesn't want me to figure it out just yet. If I suspect someone 100%, Shepard completely eliminates that possibility in the next book. Spencer is supposedly the killer in Perfect, then in Unbelievable she's not the killer. Mona confesses to being A in Unbelievable, then in the end we have another A on our hands. It's so so so frustrating, but enjoyable nonetheless. (less)

The book Unbelievable by Sara Shepard is a very excellent book. It is a fabulous read for most people. However, I believe that girls who enjoy realistic fiction and mystery will enjoy this book the most. It includes both mystery and fiction in an action packed way.

I personally enjoyed this book, it was able to keep me at the edge of my seat. It was presented in a suspenseful way, and was extremely unpredictable. However, no matter how much I enjoyed this book it is still very difficult to relate to my life. None of the events that occur apply to me, and I cannot relate to any of the characters. The closest I can relate to this book is that I have four best friends just as all the characters in the book, and I am a very driven person just like Spencer. However, Spencer is an extreme form of driven, where she will go to any point just to get what she wants, and I would not. Overall, even though this book is very well written and a very suspenseful book it is still difficult to relate too.
In this novel, apart of the Pretty Little Liars series, many action pack events occur. Aria, Hannah, Spencer, and Emily, are all trying to keep their secrets. However everything turns messy when an anonymous person, going by the identity of A, sends threatening text messages, that contain all of their secrets. While these texts occur the girls try to decipher who murdered their old best friend Ali, whom died several years ago. Not only do the girls have to deal with two major threats, they also have to handle the difficulties that arise in their personal life. Aria, must handle a divorce as well as a mother and a brother who hate her, while living with her father and the women who destroyed her parents marriage. Spencer fears that she or her sister may have been the ones to kill Ali, and must hide that her award nominated paper was stolen from her sister. Emily, must live with her overbearing and over controlling Aunt and Uncle in Iowa, while searching for a way back home in Pennsylvania. Hannah, is just fighting hr way out of a coma, and back to her old life after she was hit by A in a hit and run. So will the girls be able to juggle their personal lives, and two death threatening mysteries or will their lives simply end?
Sara Shepard has been able to create a phenomenon that has taken over girls all over the United States. This series is now a major television series on ABC family. The author has been able to create a whole series of exciting books. THis book has won the Michael L. Print z award. This book has been a very amusing, and exciting read and I would recommend this book to many people. (less)

I was really excited to start this one after the end of Perfect - I wanted to know what had happened to Hanna. At first I was a little disappointed: it felt like it took ages for the plot to get moving, because it was split between four different points of view and so there were little cliffhangers all the time and it was just very spread out. BUT! It did get moving, and the mystery of A comes to a big climax in Unbelievable.

Unbelievable certainly lives up to its title. I just can't believe everything that happened in the fourth book. I'm still sitting here stunned, and all I'm going to say on that matter is 'A' is revealed in the fourth book. After learning who it was, I went through so many different emotions. Astonishment, victory of having this person on my suspect list, and then annoyance at thinking it was someone entirely different in the end before 'A' is revealed.

Sara Shepard definitely knows how to throw you off the track. She gives you clues here and there to make you suspect someone, who may or may not just be the person, but then she steers it toward someone completely different and makes you believe that this person could possibly really be 'A'. But then in the end it's the other person you may have suspected. It's very clever!

I know a lot of people may think that this is just a girly, fluffy series. But it's not. It's full of mystery and suspense. Even though I'm still a little weirded out by how different, but sometimes how close, the series and books are together, I still love the books and they have become a favorite series of mine.

In my opinion, I think this one is the most intense of the first four Pretty Little Liar books. In the beginning of this book, I thought I knew what to expect from this one. But I was wrong. I mean, some things I thought were going to happen, happened. But I never thought that maybe 'A' would be revealed, and even though I suspected the person who is revealed as 'A', at the same time I didn't think it could of been this person.

Overall, this is a great series and I can't wait to continue the series. Even though 'A' is revealed in this book, the pretty little liars aren't being let off that easily just yet. There are more lies and mystery to be revealed. After all, who really killed Ali?(less)

Unbelievable is an amazing title for this book. The secrets keep coming out about the girls in Rosewood. But the secrets are nothing compared to Hanna being hospitalized after being intentionally hit by an SUV when she figured out who A was. As she starts to recover, she tries to remember what happened to her and who A really is. Unbelievable is the thrilling fourth instalment of the addictive Pretty Little Liars series.

We saw a lot more of Ali in Unbelievable. Spencer, Aria, Emily and Hanna thought about her a lot so we saw her in flashbacks, memories and dreams. While I was reading these I was just so shocked that she actually had any friends; she was a nasty piece of work! Pure Craziness!!! I know my last post left you questioning my sanity a little...well this one might do the same.

As always A leaves a note for us at the end of the book but as you will soon find out we are once again left in the dark.

Ohmigod, guess the fuck what?!?!? We finally find out who "A" is in this book! Don't worry, I am not going to spoil it for you. It was actually kind of good! I think it's hard to rate individual books in a series, especially a long one like PLL, but I honestly believe that each book is great and the only one I'd say maybe wasn't a full 5 stars like I rated it, was probaby book 1, just cuz it was a little bit boring.

But this book is amazing! It's actually starting to get a little deeper and the characters are stating to have more depth to them as well.

Sara Shepard's Pretty Little Liars series just keeps getting better. Unbelievable was the best out of the four I've read so far. It picks up where Perfect left off. Hanna is in a coma because she knew too much. Emily has been shipped off to Iowa to live with her conservative relatives. Aria is now boyfriend-less and homeless.
