It was a coincidence that the originator of the Lisp language passed away in the same week in which I decided to learn this remarkable language. Lisp is beautiful. Almost none of the concepts feel outdated to me. It provides a remarkable paradigm of thought. I can recommend everyone working in AI to learn this language asap. Thanks go out to John McCarthy for allowing me and many others to make use of a language that profoundly influences your thoughts and provides such a useful problem solving

"A Gentle Introduction..." is an important foundational text, introducing themes like functional programming, recursion, and symbols. While the topics it covers are often quite basic, everyone must start somewhere and this is an excellent textbook to introduce future programmers to the world of ones and zeros.

The first half of the book is good introductory material for Lisp beginners and I mostly skimmed through the second half.
