This has the most amazing artwork! Great bios on some really important artists as well.
This book is nothing more than short (.5–5 page) biographies on children's book illustrators from around the turn of the 20th century. Oh, and the pictures. There are examples from most of the illustrators, including some colored plates.
I enjoyed reading the bios on the authors I was familiar with, but I soon burned out on reading it page by page, since there was nothing to link the information together for me.

A pleasant overview of the golden age of children's picture books.
I really enjoyed this book. It is biography about 50 different children's illustrators including, Arthur Rackham, Kate Greenaway, Edmund Dulac, Kay Nielsen, Maxfield Parrish and my favorites, Howard Pyle and N.C. Wyeth.
