I ordered this from the library not realizing that it was geared towards younger readers as a primer on the life of Catherine de Medici. Even so, I thought it might make a good, short refresher so I went ahead and read it. Really, it's almost cringe inducing. Even were I a youngster reading this, I would probably be offended by the over-simplification. Its only redeeming factor is that the author goes to great lengths not to vilify Catherine de Medici.
