This was kind of interesting concept for a kids book. It had a short story in the front about 35 pages long about how the parents go out of town when the cook is on vacation so Mary and the kids have to do the cooking for a week. It gives the menu of what they eat each day and then the rest of the book is the recipes and other recipes from the time. I didn't end up trying any of them but that seemed like a fun thing to do with your child after reading the book.
Because I was on a roll, because I love to cook, I thought this would be fun.
I will say, it has a lot going for it that the others do not. Colorful illustrations are a refreshing change, it is split into seven days of the week and the adventures in the kitchen with Mary Poppins and the children. Then in the back there is an A to Z recipe list of the dishes/beverages/goodies they made, so you can try them for yourself.
I liked it!

A thin volume stitching together a week’s worth of menus based on and inspired by the Mary Poppins tales. The short story introduction is more for structure and an excuse for character cameos than for entertainment but the recipes themselves are interesting and I look forward to trying several of them.
