Growing up I was as horse crazy as the characters in this book series and I enjoyed these books immensely! Few things (maybe other than horseback riding) gave me as much pleasure as devouring the latest addition in one evening. The characters that Bonnie Bryant created were relatable as a young teen and immersing myself in the series I felt as if they were friends of my own! Many fond memories!!

This is actually an entire series of books, but rather than review each one individually, I'd rather comment on the series as a whole. It's a great bunch of short novels for pre-teens, focusing on the ins and outs of horsemanship (which is even awesome for kids like me, who don't get to experience horse ownership firsthand). The books are easy to read, and they also contain tons of good lessons on friendship, morality, loyalty and community.
