The book is set in 1991, during the breakup of Yugoslavia and follows a couple of friends living in Osijek, in the north of Croatia, who break up due to their individual historical heritage: some are Croatian, some are Serbian, some are Slovenian and, partially, end up fighting each other on the battlefield.
