As a huge Robert Jordan fan, I find myself looking for some of his other works outside the Wheel of Time, and so started working through his Conan books. This one, the second in the "Further Chronicles of Conan", was pretty okay. I do like how Jordan continues with some of the same characters throughout his books, lending them a sense of continuity and the progression of time. Each book is rather episodic, and always way too overreaching in scope, but Jordan's skill with the pen definitely was a ...more

Me gustó la historia, aunque el final me pareció un poco abrupto. Pero en general una buena aventura del Cimmerio, no es la mejor, pero si una muy entretenida.

This was not one of Robert Jordan's best but it was good enough. Action, excitement, and wenches the usual things to expect from a Conan story.

The main story was exciting and fast paced but unfortunately the side story/love story got a bit tiresome by the end. The final battle against the mighty god, Al'kiir, was disappointing and left me wanting something more.

*But I would recommend Jordan's other Conan books*

Jordan's Conan pastiches are the best of the extended Conan universe. Wildly different from REH's (definitive) take on the character, they keep the thrills and mayhem but with a more measured, less frenetic pace.

I got what I wanted out of it, which was a good popcorn book. A few hundred pages of hacking, slashing... and other things that Conan does. Easy to read, simple fun.

Sword and sorcery plain and simple-- kept me entertained!

Not Jordan's best Conan book, but still a perfect read if you want an action-packed sword and sorcery read with bawdy humor and dark gods.
