I didn't have nearly enough time with this wonderful book, but I had just enough to look over all the pictures. I enjoyed them! Though they should have included more of Aragorn (you always need more Aragorn) and more of the Mines of Moria (one of the coolest things in the whole trilogy) it had some nice pictures. Looked like it also had a sketch of each character, and was overall good. Worth $25? No. But I might pay $5 for it. (Note: I do my best to save money at all times. You might pay $25 for More...

The first chapter totally got me into the book! so far it's about Bilbo Baggins and about him not liking the Bagginsies because they where rude and such, but his favorite(his nephew) Frodo Banggins loved to talk about Bilbo's travels, and all of his adventures. Frodo was soon going to become an Adult witch you become around 30? Bilbo Baggins is really rich and wealthy and well known in Shire, also throwing his "eleventy first" birthday! i cant wait to read on!

The text is simple and offers no insights beyond what we can see in the movie, at best. Photo spreads aren't particularly spectacular and many of the photos seem to be taken halfheartedly - very few outstanding ones that apply the principles of photography effectively. Would make a good gift for young children as an introduction to LOTR, I suppose.

A quick, photo-filled intro to the first film; although it succeeds as a lush visual companion, it lacks structure and ends as suddenly as it begins.

This is a coffee table/movie tie in book that gives very basic information. The photos are great, but there's nothing here anyone who has watched the films once doesn't know.
