im Lebbon's Berserk gave me nightmares – want some??!!
None of us are new to the story of the bereaved father in search of the truth to find out how his military-enlisted son truly died, only to find that the conspiracies that are whispered in the streets and on the internet may in fact be true. What sets this book apart from all the other clones is skill. Traditional in appearance only, the plot is intense and imaginative. The essence of horror, I have always felt, is not monsters...human or otherwise...nor visceral shock nor even the immanence of death.
It is loss.
Tim Lebbon's 'Berserk' is really all about loss, and it's companion, existential pain.
A father's loss of his son. A soldier's loss of purpose. A husband's loss of his wife. A child's loss of a cherished illusion.

Overall I wasn't really a fan of this book. It moved kind of slow, though the brief action scenes were interesting. I may have been more into the book if it hadn't been recommended to me as a zombie book, which it most certainly isn't.

Tim Lebbon is another great horror author. He is a favorite of mine. This was a good book about "Berserkers." Saying much more would give away the plot.
The cover definitely turned some heads while I was reading it. ;)

A shattered father searches for the fate of his son, with the corpse of a dead girl in tow. Monsters are involved. Strongly character driven.

The scariest part of the book is the cover! Still kind of freaks me out. The story is a wild one but worth reading if you like horror.
