Good basic information about welfare and poverty with contributions from some really wonderful authors, but does it does not go very in-depth. It would be an excellent introduction to the issues surrounding welfare reform for newcomers to poverty research or activists looking for practical information. As a contribution to my dissertation, however, it was less helpful.
