Excellent collection of essays. I am becoming a bit of a fan of Geoffrey Vickers and his description of the 'appreciative system'.

I've recently read Antifragile by Taleb and find it very interesting that Geoffrey Vickers also wrote about the ways that trying to control and predict systems has actually made them more unpredictable. in 'What sets the goals of public health?' he uses the example of noise and suggests that the technological society would approach the problem from a particular point
