I can't seem to get enough LDS nonfiction and the books keep presenting themselves to me....guess that's a gimme working in a library in small town, Utah.

The temple has been on my mind a lot lately and then yesterday BAM! there's a book on the subject literally placed into my hands. I'm so grateful to be blessed to be able to read and to soak up every ounce of learning that I can...and the blessings that come from it.

This book answers questions about the temple that I didn't know I had. It is also great insight to anyone that wants to know a little more about what happens inside those mysterious "LDS" Temples. I found it enlightening.

A good summary of what one can get out of dedicated temple service. I didn't necessarily find anything earth-shattering (I think part of me was hoping to find some "new" doctrine or explanation I hadn't heard before); but perhaps some definite thought-provoking insights and commentary. One particular quote that struck me was sparked by a question brought before a prophet in the early days of the Church: With all the family history work and temple ordinances that need to be done, how More...

I really was amazed by this book. I read it in just a little over a week. It was simply amazing. The way that Andrew C. Skinner quickly and succinctly relates specific stories, scriptural references, and historical information to explain doctrines related to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Each chapter highlights a different philosophical idea related to the Temple. Two of the most powerful ideas for me were the idea that the same power that Christ and his apostle More...

Temple Worship was a fabulous book. I asked my wife to get it for me for my birthday last year and am so glad I did. It's brought my closer to my Lord Jesus Christ. I understand more about the history of temples for the last several thousand years and the importance of the temple in my life.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Has helped give me lots to think about the temple and all of the symbolism contained in it. I plan on reading this book again in about 6 months so I can get more out of it since there was a lot of good information. I am glad I took the time to read this great book.

Very good read. Very easy to understand and insightful review and explanation of gospel principles taught in the temple and why they are so important for us to know. Focus is on understanding a little more The Atonement. Uses a variety of sources that are not generally used. A book I will definitely review/read again.

For a book to get five stars, I want to feel like it changed my life for the better. This book gave me a few "pearls", insights into temple worship that really enriched my understanding of it.

I read this in preparing to go to the temple and it's amazing. It definitely gave me new perspective on the temple and I learned a lot of new things. Everyone should read this.

While reading this book I've learned new ideas and have been reminded of things I already knew but forgot. It's an easy read, especially since it's nonfiction.

Increased my longing to go to the temple. I am reading it again one year after my visit to the temple and I still love it.

I was hoping this book would be more personal than it was. I enjoyed the later chapters and did learn a few things I didn't know. I was looking for a book that would help inspire me to attend the temple more often...I suppose I need a historical book on temple worship. I think the most effective way to have more meaningful temple worship is to take your own ancestors' names to the temple. I have felt the spirit and the spirit of Elijah much more when I do this.

This book was a bit dis More...

Somewhat frustrated that I wasn't finding was I was looking for after reading the first few chapters. Boy am I glad I soldiered on! I found the second half of the book to be very insightful. Underlined a lot of stuff and will definitely read (or at least refer to) again as I continue my study of temples.

This book was very interesting. It gave me many "gems" to write down in my temple notebook, and it made me excited to go to the temple. Good stuff.

I did like the easy reading format and I thought all of his points were well organized. Andrew C. Skinner has a very pleasant, positive writing style. I think it is a great book for newer members of the church or those not in the church but interested in the significance of LDS temples to their visitors. There were some interesting pages concerning the temples of other dispensations. Even so, I found myself still wanting something more...

Pretty good, you might learn a few things, but mostly it's good because it has all (or a bunch) of those temple quotes/stories you always hear, but then can never remember where to find them or who said them. A good reference book to have in your LDS library.

So I did like this book but it wasn't a book that I couldn't put down. I got some good info and I learned a few things though. I would recommend reading it but you're not going to be blown away. At least I wasn't.

I went to the Temple this week and the temple president said this was a great book to read so I'm starting it.

When I first started this book I thought, "How can I not give it 5 stars?" But it is honestly an amazing book!
Though I've attended the temple hundreds of times this book taught me so much and made me realize I need to pay better attention (and feel more gratitude) whenever I attend.
Read it with a highlighter.

I enjoy Andrew Skinner as a teacher and was glad his same style was in this book. It gave many wonderful insights to the blessings we receive when worshipping in the temple becomes a way of life. It helped me to see and understand how blessed we can be in this life by understanding what is most important.

This book has great information. But, it is a book that you need to ponder about while you are reading. It is not a book to read for fun but to learn. I tried to read it right before bed. That is not a good time. I want to reread it a chapter at a time and then apply the principles from that chapter.

Basic gospel truths ... maybe the reason I didn't enjoy this book is that I read Truman Madsen's - "The Temple, Where Heaven Meets Earth" at the same time, and I learned alot from the latter. It was OK, but if I had to choose, I would definately buy Madsen's book to keep on my shelf.

I loved this book! It taught sacred truths in a plain, simple, and inspiring way. I learned a lot and reading it gave me a lot to think about and be grateful for. This is one of those books I will need to re read over again. I am so grateful I live close to temples!

Great book for thoses who have not yet gone to the Temple. I'm not sure why I expected some "wow" experience and a feeling like I wanted to live at the Temple by the end of the book. But, it didn't happen for me. Perhaps b/c I read it while I walked on my treadmill?

Great book, although it can be very heavy at times. It's a book i read each chapter twice to absorb all the information it gives. It is deep and gives you a perspective you never had before. This is a take the time to read book, but it's worth it! :)
