Set in the small town of Hazelhurst, Mississippi, this novel chronicles two whirlwind days in the down-home, upended lives of the three Magrath sisters
This is a really interesting addition to the Crimes of the Heart play. While the novel uses most of the play's dialogue it adds a lot of background and internal monologue. You get to see events that are only referenced in the play. If you are a fan of Beth Henley's great play, you should give this a read.
I definitely liked this book because I'm in the play. It was actually quite insightful into my character of Meg, and helped a lot in understanding her thinking behind saying specific lines. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have been as crazy about this if I was just reading it for the sake of reading it and not for character insight, but that aside, I appreciated the book. I love being Meg, and this book made me love her deeper and understand her more. It was a fun book, and I enjoyed it.
