I’m wondering when Erin Nicholas sat down to write Just For Fun if she said to herself, “I’m going to write the best damn book of my career.” I’m not saying her other books aren’t good, because they are and I’ve enjoyed every one but this book is over the top, stay up until 3 a.m., cherry on the top of a pecan caramel fudge sundae good! Now you’ll know I’m invested in these characters and this series because you’ve read all my other reviews BUT I think even if all you’ve read is Erin’s freebie short, Just The Way I Like It, you’d still finish this book and say “wow”! Me, I finished it and I wanted to watch Pretty Woman and go back and re-read Lori Foster’s entire library and then re-read this book! Now you’re thinking, “what the heck, did she fall and hit her head?” The answer is no and you’ll understand shortly. ;)

Since the first book in this series I have been enamored with Doug (Dooley) Miller. I can’t tell you why exactly but he’s always kind of fascinated me. Maybe it’s because he seems so laid back, so nonchalant about life in general but when his friends need him he always gives out very sage advice. That right there makes you think, there is way more to this guy than he’s letting on. Boy, was I right! Dooley (sorry but I just can’t call him Doug) is part of the ace paramedic team that includes Sam, Mac, and Kevin. They are more than a team, they are this strange little family who you just can’t help wanting to be a part of. We also find out that Dooley is a big brother, a devoted uncle, and takes care of his Dad who had a stroke 11 years ago. On top of that he volunteers at the Bradford Center for Youth and helps take care of a group of older women who the crew met a few years back on a call. Oh yeah, and he READS romance books by none other than Lori Foster. Seriously, how can you not be in love with this guy already??

Morgan (Sugar) James never thought she’d see Doug again. Of course she didn’t even know his real name so that fact that she tracks him down after a 4 ½ hour tryst is beyond her reasonable thinking. Morgan works for a very large and expensive group of hotels. She’s what Dooley refers to as high maintenance. She likes nice things, she works hard for them but money is important to her. Thing is she equates money with security because of her somewhat unconventional childhood. She is dedicated and driven but she lacks spontaneity, something she doesn’t have a problem with when Dooley is around.

Morgan asks Dooley to accompany her on a business trip to Chicago because their attraction, heat, steam, whatever you want to call it is so damn hot that she knows he’ll keep her away from her smarmy ex-boyfriend who steals all of her good ideas. Dooley agrees but then tells his friends he’s not going to go. His best friend Kevin knows exactly why he says he can’t go and immediately arranges it so that he can. I need to say a little bit about Kevin; whoever ends up with this guy is one lucky girl. I’ve always liked and admired his character, but the way he goes above and beyond in this book to see Dooley happy makes him a hero in my heart. The guy is just awesome!

The whole time Morgan and Dooley are in Chicago they are telling themselves and each other that their arrangement is “just for fun” but it becomes evident quite quickly that what they are experiencing is a lot more than fun. What I absolutely love is Dooley calling his friends from Chicago and them giving him all sort of funny, interesting, and sarcastic advice and comparing his arrangement with Morgan to the movie, Pretty Woman. Absolutely laugh out loud funny moments in this book.

These two have an unconventional relationship which makes their story even more enjoyable. There is a lot of wooing that goes on and it’s hilarious, sweet, and very hot. Dooley’s family and friends play a huge part in this book and it wouldn’t be the same without them. They are the most amazing group of people you could even hope to meet and have in your life. Both Dooley and Morgan have to change their thinking and let go of some of their past fears. They struggle with the change, boy do they struggle, but it is fun and interesting to watch the way they each get to where they need to be to make things work between the two of them. This book is very much about give and take in relationships and letting go of expectations no matter how important you think they are.

The amazing cast of characters, the superior writing that makes you feel you are part of the action, and an ending that proves with compromise all things are possible makes Just For Fun one of my top five books of this year. With this book, Erin Nicholas firmly establishes herself as one of the most exciting writers to watch. ** Oh, and Erin I hope you know that after this book I’m expecting a really great story for Kevin because he is an awesome guy and super friend and don’t think I’m not already wondering what you have in store for Jay, because I am!

One of my favorite scenes, even reading JFF a second time it cracked me up:
Apparently satisfied he’d answered her questions, he reached under his seat and pulled out his bag. From the front pocket he retrieved a book. She couldn’t help it—she reached over and tipped the book to see the cover. The first thing she saw was the hot half-naked man on the front. The second thing was the name of the author. “Doug?” ”Yeah?” He opened to a page about a third of the way through. ”That’s a Lori Foster book.” ”Right.” ”Do you know it’s a romance?” ”The other four I’ve read were, so I assumed it was.” She put her hand over the page in front of him forcing him to look at her. ”You read romance?” ”Have you ever read a Lori Foster book?” ”Well….no.” ”So you’re not aware of the hot women and hot sex scenes? I mean she uses the word clit. Why wouldn’t I read it?” (less)

I am seriously crying right now. Why? Because this book is over. It's over damnit! Gahhh..... Why do I let Erin Nicholas do this to me? Why do I let her drag me into her world, her character's lives and then I fall so deep it's like a slap in the face when it's over? Ugh.

Doug "Dooley" Miller is the easy going, laid back, sexy paramedic I developed a crush on over the course of the first three Bradford books. Kinda like your older brother's best friend - he is always in the background and you get used to him being part of the environment but there are these brief moments when he is center stage and you look at him like...wow, there is something more there.

In Just the Way I Like It we get hints that Mr. Easygoing No Relationships has some depth. Some layers that are waiting to be peeled back. We also learn that he is all about relaxed, easy going women that don’t require vast amounts of shine and polish. He wants his dates to like jeans and t-shirts as much as he does. Having them on and off.

The book opens when Dooley's hook-up from a charity dinner hunts him down at his favorite bar and asks him to go to Chicago with her for 3 days. Gotta love a girl who knows what she wants and why she wants it. Gotta love a guy that hooked-up so well that girl went digging to find him. While Dooley wouldn’t mind a few more trips through the sheets with her he can’t commit to going away from home for that long.

Morgan James is a class act who admits Dooley is the best she's ever had and she'd like an encore please. She needs him to act as a sexual distraction from her ex during her business trip. Seeing as how is the only man who has ever exceeded her ex’s appeal in bed he is the only man for the job.

The trip goes to prove that they light up all of each other’s bells in bed and have almost nothing in common outside of it. However Morgan wants to keep seeing him and makes a proposition that is as logical as it is offensive. Dooley shoots it down and closes her out of his life.
Not one to take no for an answer Morgan wages her own war to get Dooley back into her life, finally ending up taking matters into her own hands and ending up on his doorstep.

What follows is an odd courtship but one that is perfect for who Dooley and Morgan are.

In typical Erin Nicolas fashion the strength of this book is the intricate, interwoven relationships between all of the characters that get page time. Watching Morgan fall in love with Dooley’s family and friends is as beautiful as watching them fall in love with each other. It’s absolutely refreshing to find that both of these characters are mature, emotionally healthy people. No raging insecurity, no deep dark secrets. Just the beautiful complication called life getting in the way of their relationship.

I love all Erin Nicholas books but so far I’ve loved this the most. Having a favorite supporting character take the lead, seeing the happiness of the couples from the previous books and learning even more about what a wonderful friend Kevin is…this book just totally did it for me.

Can’t wait for Just A Kiss, which is Kevin’s book, due in October. OCTOBER? What’s up with that??? Please write quicker Ms. Nicholas. Please?(less)

The latest instalment in Erin Nicholas' The Bradfords series and with each new book Erin Nicholas amazes me as I haven't thought it would be possible for me to love this series more than I did, but with each new novel I acquire a new set of favourite characters.

Just For Fun is Dooley's story, a character who didn't really mark me in the previous novels but after Just For Fun he became a favourite of mine. He is cheeky, funny, warmhearted and so very lovable.

This is book four in the series. I have not read the others and didn't feel lost so feel free to jump right into this one if you so desire. I picked this one up because is sounded fun - heck even the title had the word 'fun' in it - and it was, for the most part. I thought the references to Pretty Woman and how Doug was Julia Robert's character and how Morgan was Richard Gere's were cute. I also thought Doug's t-shirts were hilarious! He doesn't want a romance to take away from his dad and he's fine with that. Let me just say wow again. As someone who's taken care of a parent, I really admire this trait in Dooley.

Just For Fun is the perfect title because Morgan and Dooley get together just for fun. No commitments. No expectations. Just fun. Of course, the fun for the readers is how it turns into so much more than fun for both of them.

I completely understand what motives Dooley at the same time I understand Morgan's motivations. Dooley wants to be there for his dad and not spend money. He's tight with money because of his past. Morgan wants the stability of money and to make more than enough to share with those she loves because of her childhood. Now she has the opportunity for a job in California where she would make even more money, which is a huge temptation for her. Dooley won't leave his dad and family. So even though Dooley and Morgan are in love, they have to come to terms with what they want and how that will effect their relationship.

The guys (Kevin, Sam, Mac, and Ben) add to the story. The advice they give Dooley for how to handle Morgan to the way they help Dooley figure out his relationship with Morgan is fun, humorous, and great to read. The references to the movie Pretty Woman are priceless. The friendships leap off the page. I feel like I know the characters and just reading what they say I know who said it.

A recommended read for any reader looking for a sexy, contemporary romance that’s full of laughs, love, and an incredibly sexy hero who reads romance books.

I read the first three books of this series a while back and didn’t realize there were more books until I was asked to pick a book from Erin Nicholas’ back list. I was so excited because I loved the first three books. The whole Bradford clan (even the extended family of friends) is a group I would definitely hang out with. They know what’s important in life.

Loved this latest installment. Erin Nicholas does a great job of mixing just enough steam with romance (and let's face it some of us girls like a bad boy, especially in bed ;). I loved seeing the script flipped on Dooley where here was this gorgeous girl offering him just a good time and he was the one left wanting more. I especially enjoyed seeing the softer side of Dooley with his family, that we haven't seen before. The development of Kevin's character also is a great lead in to the next book...more

This is the 4th book in The Bradford series. These books are getting better and better and I am really going to be sad when I finish them. I love how all the friends are so close.

I am an admitted Bradford Groupie. If the cast of characters from this series had a premiere night, I would be there in my Team Mac shirt, screaming all their names. Needless to say, I had very high hopes for Just For Fun. It did not disappoint. I love Erin’s voice. There is a comfort in her writing style that makes me feel like I am sitting down with a friend and they are telling me a story over hot chocolate and cinnamon buns.

This was an awesome read! I LOVE the Bradford series and I have read the first 3 at least half a dozen times, not including the skim throughs where I just read my favorite parts. I have no doubt that this book will be read just as many times as well. Dooley and Morgan are great together. I thought this was adorable. I love it when a goal-oriented person who's so focused on their lists of what their life should be like gets knocked on their behind when life truly gets in the way. Such a cute series. Really enjoyed how close knit all the friends are and how they all help out Dooley with his father. I LOVED the moment when Dooley confessed he was in love with Morgan. I loved this book, I think it may be my favourite so far in the series. I think Dooley is possibly my favourite male lead character. But I suppose if you asked me after reading Sam's story I would have said it was Sam :) Definitely worth a read.

Loved it! Best of the series so far! Dooley has always seemed like the goof ball of the group, but we get to know him and find he's much more complex. Like the previous books, this one is also very funny and oh so sexy!! I really enjoyed all the references to Pretty Woman & Lori Foster novels. Looking forward to Kevin's book!
