Rosny's French is a bit advanced for me but I struggled through it and was well-rewarded, his Prehistoric Romances are quite good. Very much in the vein of Conan Doyle but with a Gallic sensibility, the pulp sentiments and situations are clearly superior to any Anglophone contemporaries. A wide variety of (now outdated) prehistoric stories depicting the struggles of cavemen against nature and each other. Quest for Fire is the most famous novella in this collection altho' the film version is far ...more

J.-H. Rosny Aîné was the pseudonym of Joseph Henri Honoré Boex, a French author of Belgian origin who is considered one of the founding figures of modern science fiction.
