I just read the Guards! Guards! (Wachen! Wachen!) part, because I needed some change after having read three Pratchetts in a row. In contrast to "monstrous regiment" (Weiberregiment), which I read just before this book, I think the characters are much vivider. You get a clear picture of all of them on your mind, which is just great.
However, the plot is starting quite good, but in the middle of the story it is getting a bit boring, until the showdown starts, which again is just really vivid and g

Excellent book. You get a very vivid picture of the world the characters live in due to Pratchett's passion for detail. The description of his stunning discworld and the characters are fantastic. The story is grapping and entertaining. The way he describes the character of the reaper is unique - a powerful and intelligent but also joking and immature personality. Even if your are not a fan of fiction stories, this book is a must.

Gevatter Tod / Mort: Fantastic as usual. DEATH is and remains my favourite Discworld character and this book actually brought some interesting new aspects to his personality. - 4 stars

Wachen! Wachen! / Guards! Guards!: A funny, clever story that convinces especially with its absolutely charming and crazy characters. - 4 stars

Sir Terry Pratchett sold his first story when he was thirteen, which earned him enough money to buy a second-hand typewriter. His first novel, a humorous fantasy entitled The Carpet People, appeared in 1971 from the publisher Colin Smythe.

Terry worked for many years as a journalist and press officer, writing in his spare time and publishing a number of novels, including his first Discworld novel,
