Grace Paget is appalled when she is mistaken for a common doxy and kidnapped. Grace is taken to the estate of a raving madman and expected to be used for his amusement. Though Grace protests her innocence, neither her captors nor the man who she is supposed to pleasure believe that she is really a respectable widow. When she refuses to play the trollop, she's given an ultimatum: seduce her quarry or be killed for her refusal.

A riveting romance featuring an emotionally and physically tortured hero trapped in his own home by his uncle's insatiable greed. Also a victim of the uncle's terrible scheme is the undeniably brave and beautiful heroine who is kidnapped to fulfill the hero's every desire when she is mistaken for a prostitute.

Historical romance. I complained that "One Night of Scandal" was not gothic enough - this one is way TOO gothic. The hero and heroine each suffered about a decade of unspeakable misery before meeting each other. They do save each other and escape, both literally and figuratively, but I found it hard to believe that they would just walk off into the sunset after all they'd been through.

I enjoyed this book but I had a hard time liking the heroine, Grace. I am not sure why really, maybe it was that she seemed a little too spineless for my tastes. I did enjoy Matthew, however and that helped me enjoy the book. I haven't read Anna Campbell's first book (I couldn't find it at the time), but I will look for it and her third book when it comes out.

Male virginity is an underrated commodity, as Claire Fraser would say and I agree. Since it's so hard to come by in romance novels this was refreshing, I liked it better than 'Claiming the Courtesan'.
There's more humor to this one than the previous book and the hero and heroine are much more likable.
