Sartarelli graduated from Antioch College and New York University. He has translated the Inspector Montalbano series of detective novels written by the Italian writer Andrea Camilleri; these have gained considerable popularity in the US and the UK.

Wikipedia claims he lives in France, Penguin USA says he lives in upstate New York.
