I was supposed to write a review on this back in 2001, and got sidetracked because I was trying to graduate from my master's program. For the record, I'll say that the text can be difficult, but Gergen's ideas are interesting. He is one of the brand of postmodernists that don't believe that "anything goes"--not a relativist.
