Amazing book....it starts off in an unconventional fashion as Christie first indulges in the study of the characters rather than actually laying out the story...the climax is just what you thought would never be...as usual Christie bamboozles the readers in her inimitable fashion. The human emotions that Christie has researched in this book, and the poignant story-telling and of course Mr.Hercule Poirot and his 'little grey cells' are the strong points of this book.As for it's weak points,...excep...more

Nice and bloody mystery. I love the BBC version of this one with David Suchet. It kept very close to the book. Simeon Lee was hated by everyone who knew him, so it's no surprise that he is found murdered on Christmas Eve. The question is how did someone get into the locked room and slit his throat? Nice locked room mystery with a holiday twist.

This is one of the most intriguing Poirot mysteries because the reader is as baffled as Poirot to the very end, even after meeting all the characters. Of course, a number of Christie's murderers follow the same pattern (some unknown relationship to the victim that is not revealed till the end), this mystery added even more twists.

This was a good one! The character development was quite good -- I feel that I really know each person and what they are like (not always the case with Christie novels, I have found). I kind of want to re-read it now that I know the outcome. Definitely an unexpected ending!

I constantly confuse this one with the short story with Mr. Hercule Poirot during Christmas. I wish these characters were real, I'd love to have met some of them, particularly the "victim." (yes the victim dies, but he's not a victim in character.)

benar2 trik pembunuhan yang jeli, licik, dan hebat dari sebuah permainan.. tapi yang lebih hebat lagi adalah Hercule Poirot yang ternyata sanggup lebih licik dan jeli lagi..
plotnya maju-mundur tapi masih enak dibaca ^^

Read this many, many years back but remember the story well, I find Poirot just as facinating now as i did as a teenager when i first read about him.

I never saw the ending coming. I really liked this story because it kept me guessing until the end.

Pretty standard issue. Not bad, but wouldn't be one of the first I'd recommend.
