In the beginning pages M.D. Raquel Nieves discusses an issue in the medical community that must be addressed. Doctors meet diets with a lot of resistance. Instead of admitting the powerful healing effects of diet change, they rather say that the healing diet followers experience is something spontaneous. They have fixedly decided that diet doesn't help improvement and any improvement isn't the cause of a diet change but rather the cause of a spontaneous recovery.
In Science, nothing is spontaneou

The recipes in this book are so divine! They sound so wonderful, my mouth waters! Beautiful full color photos & advice about certain ingredients depending on your stage of the diet. I would have given this book 5 stars if I could use it. I find that the recipes are far to advanced for my stage of the diet. I think it would be a year easy before being able to use this book.
This is not a newbie book! If you are a newbie to the SCDiet, this is a book to keep in mind for when you are further alo

I haven't tested every recipe, but the breadth of the book is nice, the design isn't too painful, the pictures are good, and (thank god) every recipe isn't an attempt to recreate the Methodist summer picnic by making fake pink fluff. The author is Indian- and Italian-American; recipes are divided about 2/3 to 1/3 between the two. In terms of contents, it appears to be a reflection of things his family actually eats on the diet, which is nice. Pictures of fancy clam sauce are fine, but practical ...more

Some of the recipes were good. Most of them had dairy so I couldn't try them

This was the first book I ever purchased for the SCD and it was a good intro cookbook for me. It has a lot of great recipes...my favorites center around his remakings of some Asian dishes. He has been a savior with his SCD soy sauce recipe that lets me addapt many other recipes I come across to the SCD. There are a lot of dishes that are different than many other SCD cookbooks, due to the authors cultural background, which can add or detract from the book, depending on how you feel about trying ...more

Great cookbook for those needing to pursue this sort of diet due to learning disabilities, digestive issues, autoimmune disease or just wanting to eat healthier and/or lose weight! Lots of great pictures, clear instructions, easy to find ingredients, not too time consuming and all we have tried so far have been quite good.

I wish there were more photos, so I can get a visual of what I'm making. The hazelnut-vanilla pancakes are to die for. Not too sweet, but no syrup really necessary either. Overall, really great book and some fantastic ideas.

This cookbook adds so much flavor and veggies into the SCDiet recipes it shares.
