Many practical tips on each chapter. The case studies are various and helpful. Contains up-to-date advices on new technologies.

3.5 stars. Useful for people unfamiliar with library marketing or marketing in general, suitable to newcomers as well as those who are old hands at library work. Some of the information regarding various tools is a little dated due to the rapidly changing nature of social technologies, but on the whole it does spur one to be brave, to try new things, and to market the whatsit out of libraries.

This was an extremely informative professional title about marketing and advocacy for the library. Potter doesn't use marketing lingo or anything that may make it difficult to digest. It is also nice that this isn't just the another general "marketing tips" books, but actually provides suggestions from case studies from real librarians in different settings. This made it very easy and quick to read and not the the usual textbooks or professional titles which could make someone fall asleep after ...more

A slim volume that is packed with all kinds of information on how to market a library in our technology-driven world. The sections on social media are quite strong, particularly as many of the lessons relating to social media are applicable for libraries of any size. The sections devoted to physical spaces are interesting and inspiring, but they may be out of reach for libraries with limited budgets and space.
