First off, to even call this Chronicles 4 is rather, a lie. Weis and Hickman had grown tired of people writing in what they considered their personal playground, so they nuked the setting in one fit of spiteful hate for Lorraine Willaims. (Yes, I was there.)
The only reason that TSR didn't pay up the kill fee was that they desperately needed the cash they hoped this p.o.s would provide. As it happens, it was too late for that, and only the arrivaal of buckets of money in the form of P...more

I was so upset by what happened to my beloved Dragonlance characters that I shaved my head and attacked someone's car with an umbrella.

Nice to see the old characters again; disappointing to see what the authors did to them. I can understand if Weis and Hickman wanted to clear the playing field to keep things from getting stale, but for crying out loud, did we really NEED a bloodbath? And there was at least one character that I HATED to see again, because in my opinion that character's farewell scene many books ago was perfect. And now it's been messed with.

Ah memories. My first fantasy series (other than Tolkien), and man did it suck me in to the fantasy genre. An easy read- I would almost call it mansmut. Classic, reccomended.

This was actually a LOT better than Second Generation. I enjoyed some of the short stories in Second Generation, but all in all that one was a quick, cute, setup for this more epic novel. It is certainly not the best of the Dragonlance books, but I particularly like it. If you're looking for more of the "heroes of the lance" you WILL be disappointed.

I had no idea when I started this book that there was several more in between this and Dragons of Spring flame, I have had to stop reading it and head back to the library to get the four or so books that take place in between....I have started reading this book again having checked it out from the library three times now. I am agast and am only about 100 pages into it, my plane ride tomorrow will be spent reading....I dont think I will finish this book even though I am interested in finding out ...more

My favorite book. All of this series as written by the original authors, actually. These stories are very character-driven, and the many characters are very deep. Raistlin Majere is my favorite character of all time.

The world as they know it is in danger again. The gods are unable to intercede as they once did and magic becomes wild. A new set of companions come together to save their world.

For fans of Dragonlance this is a good book. The later books are not so good but this nicely follows on from time of the twins etc. It is worth a read.

I guess it'll be pretty much damned near impossible for me to ever enjoy any Dragonlance novel as much as I loved the original Chronicles trilogy when I was in high school. I enjoy the books enough, just not as much as those.
Oddly enough, Dungeons and Dragons creator Gary Gygax passed away the day I finished reading this book. That was a bummer. Once again, it'd be nice to recapture my youth and the many days spent rolling those dice with my brother, at the Larson's or at the Bigl...more

Another great book in the Dragon Lance series-- and the return of my favorite, Raistlin Majere, best character ever. I was worried that his return would make no sense, or that his character would be destroyed in the process, but all was well done. The newer characters-- Palin, Usha, Steel, etc., were not as well-defined as the Heroes of the Lance (they were a little cardboard-cutout-ish), but a fun storyline. I was sad to see the exodus of the gods at the end.

I hated this book, it's actually the only book I've ever returned in my life. The reasoning I gave the clerk when I returned it? "It sucked". Ugh, now that's 3 hours of my life I'll never get back. :(
