This book is so outdated about china. Published in 2004 it reads like a book published in 1970: "B for bicycles -- very few people in China can afford to buy a car. " Well, apparently there are too many cars in china which generated the smog problem. In addition, including disputes on political events and the authors' personal taste of ideology is inappropriate for a children's book.
As far as an informative ABC book on Chinese people and places this book was a huge disappointment. Illustrations were too simplistic to capture the word for the letter presented and some of the ideas slanted in favor of a certain political stance. I even looked in the book for references author made in writing the book and it appears that there were only two sources listed, both from the same city. Just disappointing. Half a star, really.
