I read the Arabic edition of this book. The book is great. However, it doesn't have sufficient exercises. It concentrates on theory and leaves the practice to you. It is divided into three main parts. The first part is a little history and definition and some other basics. The second part is the core and has a detailed explanation of the systems used to memorize things. The last part is a little interactive and talks about applying what you learned to some common problems you face in life like r ...more

Okay... I will admit I didn't completely read this book... I just wanted to get it off my "currently reading" shelf.

I've read Buzan's books before and I would suggest any or all of them. They are practical and useful. This book specifically teaches memory techniques for multiple situations. There is a diagnosis test, worksheet-like pages and chapter tests. I would suggest buying this book new and in actual book format (NOT on Kindle or an iPad) since there is a lot of fill-in-the-blank exercis

Introduces Link, Number-Rhythme, Roman Room (memory palace) and Major memorising systems and of course Mind Maps (don't think the author has a book where he doesn't mentions the mind maps). The idea behind all of them is the same: to visualize thing you want to remember in a memorable way.

These techniques are good to remember items in order, but how ofter do you need to remember a deck of cards or a list of shopping items in order?!

Anyway, the idea that I got from this book is to visualize in or

The book contains a lot of memory tricks that help to improve your memory. This is my second copy as I put the first down and forgot where. I've had this copy for two years now, so it worked ;)

A walk-through of memory techniques by memory champ Tony Buzan, this book does an adequate job of explaining the basics. It begins with a pumped up promise that you, too, will be able to perform a series of memory tricks and that you should not accept that your memory will vanish with age. He does a quick walk-through of the understanding/science of memory, catching in very broad strokes (1-2 sentences per philosopher/scientist) how our understanding of memory has changed.

Buzan does a walk-throu
The book summarizes the concepts pretty well, the self doing exercises are kinda motivating. For someone who knows nothing mnemonic techniques, its a new experience. The only cons is that it has some hyped or vague content, poorly treated and kinda frustrating.

Minus one star, because it is somekinda hard to adapt the book to lithuanian lifestyle...

it seems so easy but I lack the time to actually do it ... what a pity, it all works through associating things which is what many of us do anyway but not in a systematic way. The book helps you do this but as I said, time is needed.

now .... a few weeks later .... I have not finished it but put aside for a while as I have other books which I want to read too.

Five star is understatement for this book. Though I finished my college, I never use these technique or thought of it at all. Imagine that I knew these skills before.

The book is divided into section for different technique and different material to be memorize. I would recommend this book for everyone. I believe that you will enjoy it and learn a lot.

Good luck with that.

When I read page 56, I achieve the ability of remembering 20 items in less 5minutes in order. Wow before, I did the test that I only could do 5 items. Thumb up! When I finish the book, I'm able to remember all historic building built days! And MORE. I do appreciate this book and I'm glad I found it and read it.
Clear. Organized. Very useful especially for people with no previous experience with mnemonics... But why isn't the Dominic System presented? (as it is considered easier to learn / implement than the Major System)
This book was amazing!I really loved it and helped me a lot during my studies in my bachelor degree! Tony Buzan just a brilliant person! I wish I could get a memory like him!
I guess it has some nice trips delivered in an easy way along with some intresting examples and exercices to make the most out of this book
